Scottie was one grandmother who was too involved in Ethan's life. Ethan's mom and dad are the only ones who should be as involved as Scottie became. Scottie actually stepped into the shoes of Ethan's parents by making decisions they and they alone should have made. Saying Helen shouldn't be in school with Ethan made her sound more like a parent than a grandmother. Something that shouldn't have appeared to have happened. Scottie really crossed the line with her cruelty towards Helen's funeral. Deliberately scheduling a family vacation on the day of Helen's funeral went several miles passed crossing the line. Thankfully, family members learned why the vacation was scheduled then and decided, too, that Scottie had crossed the line and attended the funeral. Karma's punishment for Scottie was just. Getting shunned by family members, divorced, and living in an elder shelter was her just reward. She's lucky there wasn't some way to take her to court to get back the money she embezzled from her husband's paycheck. Or she'd be in prison now. Karma watches people like Scottie and knows when it's time to step in and give out rewards. And this time, it was Scottie's number that was up.
