I don't where on apple's website you read AAC and ALAC are same. They say it's indistinguishable but that doesn't mean same. The main reason why Apple music has gained popularity is because its provides ALAC. It's literally in the name, lossless AAC is compressed

AAC is like MP3 and ALAC is apple's version of FLAC so one is compressed another is lossless so yeah it's nothing like same

But by theory even FLAC or ALAC is not truly lossless as they do compress some data but it's not related to the frequency spectrum of the music file so the musical representation should be uncompressed

I have Sony wh900n headphones and Samsung buds 2 pro with OnePlus 7 I used KZbin music, Spotify premium and Apple music at same time in OnePlus 7 but I couldn't hear much of a difference, like it's very noticeable

Yes Spotify is amazing for maximum peoples but if you are true lover of music quality and clarity or you have a proper knowledge of music like instrument separation ( each and every instruments that played in that song and the vocal of singers are listen clearly in short you can differentiate each and every instruments which are played in song) was amazing but for that u should have any device which supports Hi-res audio. And if you have that then truth me you definitely feel the hug difference. LDAC coding is also supported Hi-res audio so you can buy that type of earphones but LDAC only available for Android phones and I'm using Apple music in Android with LDAC support earphones and i love it so much.

I used both apps. Since i use dac with wired earphone. i prefer apple music. For people who use lossless audio in apple music make sure to monitor data usage. 10-15 songs can clear 1.5gb data. Since i don't use data more expect WhatsApp. I purely enjoy the music. You might face login issue initially in Android but it can be solved if logged in through website. I guess Android can give more justice for apple music than apple phones and macs.
