If the FIL grew up on the East Coast of the U.S., he would have heard about the Knickerbocker Storm, very late January 1922. I heard about it because my Dad’s grandmother walked in front of his Mother(while in labor) to make a path to the Maternity Hospital in Philadelphia. Dad was born 2-2-1922.

I'm thinking "belongings" were things like cloths, hair/makeup products, and maybe some photos of just her, but "valuables" could be any photos that were missed, bank/money stuffs, and things that might not seem like Harriet's possessions, but that the friend knows are like some decorative items and such. I'm 50/50 on whether any jewelry would have been destroyed as Charity could have seen it as a "Ew, I don't wanna keep anything that B-itch wore" or a "Oooh, now all these pretty and shiny things are mine!"
