Traditional social hierarchy, Temp, out side certain high skilled contractors, are usually low skill low pay nobodies. That and the story is from Asia, likely Japan, where this type of office bullies are common.

@@norarivkis2513 I think it's also a Japanese thing for parents to take on the responsibility of their irresponsible offspring. I don't know of any law that requires parents to assume their adult kid's debt in the US. These parent's paid but then basically tossed the jerk out, so I wondered why they bothered paying in the first place? Saving face is the only reason I could think of.

I was a temp for many years; with an agency at first and then I went freelance. Financially, it was the best decision I could have made! (And no-one ever had a problem with that! 😊)

There are a number of examples in these stories of parents who pay for a child's debt but then disown the child, or apologize on their knees for an adult child's wrongdoing and then disown them, which wouldn't be an American thing either. We don't even tend to apologize on our knees for our own wrongs, let alone those of our relatives.

Likewise. Companies typically only hire temps when either they have a specific major project that needs extra help, or they are running badly behind. In either case, they're delighted to have the assistance.

I have never heard of any company who would allow any employee to assault another employee , and not call the police . They would have no choice . Or else , the company could be held liable, and could be subject to a lawsuit . And it goes without saying that manager would be fired . No questions asked . But the company would require documentation of the assault .

@@sjmcc13 not if the the victim filed charges and if it was done in front of witnesses . The witnesses could be subpoenaed . And if there were cameras , the police could get a warrant for any footage .

@@sjmcc13 not if there were witnesses present and were subpoenaed . I hardly think it advisable to commit perjury in a court of law . I cannot imagine that a five year prison sentence is worth a job. And if there were cameras , the tapes can be subpoenaed too . And if the camera evidenced was wiped , that would certainly be evidence of a conspiracy to cover up a crime . And that would add an Obstruction charge as well . I think you people better brush up on the law.

As if no one ever tries evidence tampering or witness intimidation... Someone who needs their job is not going to testify in the way their boss told them not to. People have and do let things pass as they need their job, as especially if they are not being affected by it. Here the victim chose not to press charges.
