Just plain stupid. You are not legally married just because they filed for divorce. Who rights these things, grade school children who have no clue how the real world works. Just like playing house but no basis in reality. They filed the marriage registration as soon as the divorce was finalised. She'd already filled and signed the paperwork, so it was just a matter of filing. Not in the USA, so different laws.
