Kaia committed a FELONY whether the money was a stranger's money or was the money of her DIL, she stole money and lots of it not to mention that she bought a house with STOLEN money.

You’d need ID to get that money from the bank. That ID needs to match the name on the account too. DUH!

Agree you can only take out so much money at a time using the ATM and I believe that for most banks (at least here in the USA) they have a precaution that if someone tries to take out more than a certain amount of money using the ATM in a specific time frame that the bank will freeze the account. (My sister in law used to be a supervisor at a bank which is how I learned such things.)

people seem to try to use that "We're family" as some sort of way to absolve themselves of any consequences to their actions if they do whatever it is to a "family" member.

stories are from Japan, where crimes between family members are considered domestic disputes not crimes. They rarely charge a family member

As someone who has had crazy family like this.... I'm sure she found someone new to steal from and exploit until they get wise to her shit and then she moves on to a new victim.

Yup. My MiL has full on stolen jewelry from family members and sold it. None of her relatives even will allow her to visit anymore. We are the only ones and we lock everything up before she comes. Even the poor kids have to lock up their cash in their rooms.

I know this originated in a foreign country, but cannot the great aunt sue Kaia? Cannot a black van pick up Kaia and take her to work in a tuna factory for the rest of her life???

That realtor should have paid back the money to her. Or her credit card company. Don't they restore identity theft?

There is NOTHING WORSE than theiving family members. In the UK our useless police don't always do ANYTHING for the victim. As I know damn well. As my own adult daughter sold off my 3 bedroomed 3 story house from under me while I was fighting for my life in hospital over a year ago.Aswell as ALL my possessions. She also drained every penny out of my bank account. Including my retirement funds. So I was left broke & homeless straight after I came out of hospital. I had to sleep on a friend's sofa for a year. Until I got my council bungalow. Where I'm trying to rebuild my life while too ill to work ever again. I have a bed & donated sofa but not much else yet. It's left me unable to trust anyone. As if a family member can do this to their own mom. I feel I just can't risk trusting someone ever again. It's soul destroying to say the least.

"How can you say no to me..." Easy, NO! And no, what's mine or the aunt's ISN'T yours and we don't need to discuss anything with you. "She can't do that to me..." Yeah, she can. She isn't 'family' by marriage but a stranger to you! Uhm, just how were you able to withdraw any money from the bank, which you claimed to have visited numerous times and amount without an ID. None of your business of why others, relatives or not, have money!

Bank books are just a record of deposits and withdrawals from an account. It does not give access to the account.

Depends on the bank. In the uk there are banks that use bank books which are used to put money in and out of the account. However only the person who owns the account can use it even to put money in 😊

If it is discovered that the house was bought with stolen money, wouldn't it be canceled? You know the purchase. And how come she could withdraw uch an amout of money in one go? Didn't they have that clause that you cant get more then 10 tousands? And just because she stole the bank book wouldn't she have to have an ID? In my bank, in my country they ask for an ID for a lot less. And if she went more then once, wouldn't that mean that each time that she took to money out they would charge the small fee? Like when you withdraw money from diferent ATM then your banks ATM? And wouldn't they inform the aunt? It's still a lot of money. In what time frame did she withdraw it? Wouldn't the aunt get a call from the bank or something?

Before she retired my sister in law used to be some sort of supervisor or something for a bank. She once told me that banks in the USA are supposed to freeze up if someone tries to take out above a certain amount of money in a particular time frame. The only way a person would be able to get away with it and not get caught would be to limit the amount they removed in each transaction (say maybe $200) and limit how often they make a transaction (say once every two weeks) which means it would take them some time to steal such a large amount of money. It has been done however in the past, I don’t remember it exactly but I think the victim had been in an accident and had been comatose for over a year. The criminal turned out to be their roommate.

This is ridiculous. Kaia tried stealing house savings from her son and daughter-in-law and creepily knew precisely how much they had saved up, as well as tried to mooch off of them. *Can you say: (insert high-pitched Mortal Kombat announcer voice) stalker?*

I love some of my family, but they are worse than strangers when taking things from you. I have a brother who has done this a few times. His excuse: "We're family so it's OK. or "It's not a big deal." Have a sued him to get those things back, no. But our relationship is not the same. It's his attitude that bothers me the most. Our mother passed away four months ago, and I still have any feelings towards getting close to him again.
