The driver left the car open and with running engine. So the keys were in the ignition. Though I think a high-end Lexus would work with a start button. I'm still discovering how this exactly works but I think that as you keep the keys with you if you remove yourself and the keys too far from the car it will shut down. As I said, testing this with a high-end Toyota.
