Ruth, Yolanda, and Walker all were all horrible people and got the karma they deserved for how they treated and betrayed Violet. Yolanda's biological mom was also horrible with having an affair with Violet's husband and forcing her own child onto Violet just to hide her fling from her CEO father. I was hoping there was a bit at the end about the CEO father finding out about the affair his daughter had as well as abandoning said daughter to another woman which would have led to the CEO disowning his daughter..

How can adoption be finalized that quick. She supposedly adopted her after 2 days. They were married for 2 weeks and she threw her out. I thought you had to live with the child for a year to adopt them and it to be legal.
@rogerrabbit80
@rogerrabbit80 Жыл бұрын
@@reginafetty6374 Different places, different laws. According to the National Adoption Foundation, adoption can take anything from months to years. That may include time to find the child you wish to adopt, however. In this case, where the child is old enough to make her wishes known, and the biological parent agrees, it would probably go fairly quickly. I still don't see the petition even being heard by the judge in less than two weeks. It normally takes that long just to get something scheduled. One other point. When someone adopts a child, they are a legal parent and fully responsible for that child. The previous parent no longer has any rights or responsibility for the child. Therefore, when Ruth adopted the kid, Violet would have had zero liability for anything related to her, including child support.
@thehawkseye3412

The big question here is: what is Ruth's motivation? Why would she want to obtain a deadbeat husband and his bratty child? Also, there is no way a court would make Ruth pay child support for a child that isn't hers after only a few weeks of marriage. The biological mother can be sued.
@TiffWaffles
@TiffWaffles Жыл бұрын
It seems that the bio mum isn't in the picture at all. If this is the case then she can't be sued at all since the main character stepped in the role of mother. This means that the MC is responsible for child support in the eyes of the court. The main character should have walked out of that relationship the moment she divorced him. She put herself in a serious disadvantage. She stepped in as the mother, regardless of whether she didn't adopt or didn't list herself as the guardian... She is the mother of that child and is therefore legally required to take care of that child. The judge would have seen her as the mother since she was there from practically day one. The main character was stupid by staying because if this was a real story, she would have been forced to pay child support.

She did leave him, legally as well as financially for the most part from the sounds of it, she only physically stayed to raise Yolanda because she knew her Ex couldn't do so and didn't want Yolanda either getting abused and poorly cared for in an incompetent home or put into adoption, and before you say "Let her go into adoption", why don't you look up some of the absolute horror stories that come out of orphanages, here in the States and Abroad. I wouldn't wish the slot machine that is the orphanage system on the children of the Nazis or the Soviet Union's worst, why on Earth would I want a States child in one? As for the control thing, if one parent is a doormat to the child then yeah it can happen. You either have two parents united to form and keep a family, or you don't. Straight, Homosexual, Bi-sexual, doesn't matter, either both are together or the whole unit breaksdown completely.

@solshu I'm not sure about the court not ordering a lumpsum payment; I think it would be a matter of what the custodial parent is comfortable with and the reliability of the other parent. Okay, so from what I can gather from the story, the biological mother must have signed away her rights as a parent since Ruth was able to adopt Yolanda. However I don’t see why Walker would let her do so for free if their affair caused him to loose his job. Furthermore if Yolanda is 16 the father must have been laid off 16 years ago. How has he not gotten another job? Also OP could have sued the biological mother for the affair and they could have sued for child support. As they knew the biological mother’s father, the Ceo, she could be tracked down that way. While I believe Yolanda act very spoiled and out of touch with the world, she is 16, that is a common character flaw some kids develop during that age. She shouldn’t be allowed to make important decisions in regards to her father’s relationships. So the conclusion is that the father must be a complete idiot to not understand what rights he has as a father towards the biological mother and a complete failure in regards to his daughter’s upbringing.

All the 15-year-old and her dad would have to do is get a lawyer and sue the birth mother for child abandonment and child support and she owes 15 years of back child support it would have to be done in a court of law and she would have to pay it. The rest of the story is b******* because they would have gotten child support from the real mother as well as going on all the news posting it everywhere about the real rich mother abandoning them

Geez these people are terrible. I wonder what Ruth & Violet's parents think? Also kinda surprised Walker hasn't tried texting Violet too. Also I feel like the bio mom deserves some punishment too. She had an affair with Walker behind Violet's back & for some reason kept the kid she has made clear she doesn't want only to dump her with Walker. Given everything she just left a child with a guy that can't raise a kid on his own & who knows what'd happen if Violet hadn't been so willing to stay after divorcing him. To top it all off from what I understand she probably got Walker fired cause she didn't want to be around the guy she lost interest in. While what she did when meeting them again after all this time was funny(and deserved on Walker & Yolanda's part) it still leads to some questions on bio mom's behavior.(Especially since it sounds like she did this to them on sight & didn't let them speak) I get the feeling at some point Yolanda & her dad as payback(while harassing Ruth) start telling everyone what happened.(Likely leaving out that it was an affair) Bio mom's lawyer(or her dad's) try to stop them but is forced to get a DNA test. Test show they're telling the truth & likely causes issues for bio mom's reputation.

Moral of the story you don't have to adopt a child of your significant other. To show love and compassion for . If you do adopt you might being pay child support. Because nothing is forever , and every thing can be taken for granted.

Is someone really on the hook for child support after only three weeks of marriage? The notion of alimony never came up. Also, the story jumps from talking to Ruth directly into talking to Yolanda without any real establishment, and it was awkward. I think another draft would've helped.

In regards to alimony at 22:42 OP said her and walker were long divorced after he cheated on her and the Birth Mom dropped off the kid. So considered they were only married for less than a year I would think alimony would be an option

This story has no sense whatsoever. The mother gives up the child and disappeared, but they knew who she and his father were all along. Why not contacting the CEO grand-frather from the beginning and work, sinve they should know how to find him? And she divorced the man and kept living with him because she wanted to care for her lover's child? And finally, the stupid girl cannot sue her biological mother for abandonment or something, at least try? A lot of your other stories were better built.

Normally you would feel sorry for the child, but in this case the CHILD is responsible for the hell of her own making. She Intetionally destroyed her happy family, and her second chance all for the IDEA of more money... She might have a chance at real money if she SUED Real Mommy for back Child Support after a DNA TEST but that would take more money then they have.

Ruth needs to go to court and get a child support order that would be aligned with what she actually makes for a living. Generally they don't do child support as a lump sum, and they can't take more than a certain percentage of a person's income a month to pay for it.
