Noo you can directly charge it with the charger that comes with the ipad and it charges in 30 mins and lasts me 5 days easily

no if you have an ipad 10. gen it cant work directly bc the 1. gen pencil is lightning but the ipad is usb-c so if you use them you need a cable and an adapter to plug it into ipad

in no way would i consider the cable to be a down side. it vastly improves the durability of the device. if the ligtning version gets hit in any way while its pluged in it will break the connector off

There's no point using pen while charging as it doesnt take long to charge, a 30 secs can give you 30 minutes power. You can literally have a bathroom break and have it attached then youll have almost one hour of usage.

Doesnt seem like a downgrade to me as the lightning port pen looks like it may actually lead to it gettinh snapped off the pen while plugged in if someone or something was to put tension onto it and idk if it can be used while charging but if it can be then the type c one is a total upgrade as you can use it while charging so there's no worry about the pen's battery running out

I had this one but I ended up dropping it and the moving top part cracked. I went back to Best Buy and returned it for a 2nd gen which was on sale for $80 luckily. I actually liked the cable connection thing. I get protective iPad cases so I have to take off the case to charge the 2nd gen. The usb-c version was more convenient for me, but it’s not as durable & there’s no protective cases for it yet which is why I stayed with the 2nd gen.

Im not much on drawing so it works perfectly for me and yes you can buy a 10 dollar stylus if thats what you need but it wont give you the premium feel that the apple pencil does and the design is much better than the lightining one

Guys buy an after market pencil if you are a student and want to write only.... You can also get away with a usb-c no need to buy the gen 1 it wont be compatible with future ipads... 😊

Type C, no pressure sensitivity, no double tap you can get for 1500 in India and if you give 700 more you can also get wireless charging. The only thing you won't get in is an apple logo.

They did that so you would have to buy a cable which somehow cost $40, even though you could just get one for $1.25 at the local Dollar tree

Actually the biggest downside is that it has no pressure sensitivity but tilt sensitivity, basically just like a generic $20 stylus but Apple branded

Why do you think that? It is a decent product that brings you the ApplePencil experience for a way much affordable price. In my country, the price difference between this and the second gen is around 70$, which is a huge difference, but the second generation may worth it if you need it. But the iPad 10 is not compatible with it at all, so you might stick with the losable cap, the need of the adapters to charge, the shiny surface and the round shape. Instead I’ve got a second generation shape (and a slightly shorter product), a cap that I can’t loose at all, an easy way of charging and the magnetic attachment to the iPad.
