Looking forward to enjoying these in my October Japan Crate box when I get it and sharing the experience in my own unboxing video as I do every month. Does it compare to an actual hot apple pastry? There's no way they could. Both are very different taste experiences, with the pastry being 100% better, of course. I've tried a LOT of the various Kit Kat flavors, either purchased from online stores or from either my Japan Crate or Tokyo Treat monthly boxes. Totally agree that the apple is okay, but not great. The Lemon & Setouchi Salt one is excellent. The matcha one is good too. So is strawberry cheesecake. Have to wonder what the grilled salmon one is like though. The banana one is okay, but needs the flavor pumped up more stronger. It's very, very mild with the white chocolate overpowering the taste.

Nice video, but I can't imagine a Kitkat being as good as a Ringo apple pie. There are multiple Ringo stores now, with the original having opened in Ikebukuro over 3 years ago. If you go to Japan I highly recommend getting one (or more...). Also gotta recommend POGG sweet potato pie. John what is your favorite flavor? Of the ones I've tried I would go with either Butter or Rum and Raisin.

It's very expensive but Japan Centre website sell a few of the flavours and a selection gift bag of 8 or 10 flavours but only 1 mini kitkat of each.

FWIW last year they had what I assume were limited edition puddi-flavoured halloween kitkats and I was able to find them pretty easily just at Donki in late October. Don't know if these apple pie ones are exponentially more popular or something but I doubt they'd clear out quite THAT fast.

Great video as always John. Would love to try those Apple Pie Kit Kats, they sound good. I actually ordered some of the sake sakura Kit Kats earlier this year. I love sake Nd thought it would be neat. I was sorely disappointed! They were so sickening sweet! I think it was the artificial sake flavor was just too cloying. What did you think of them? Would love to see you do more Japanese Kit Kats compared with their actual inspiration.

A few years ago I was wandering Ikebukuro, completely unaware of Ringo. I stumbled upon a shop on the Main Street, it was empty but smelled so good! Pies were fresh, so I gave it a chance: was not disappointed at all. When I walked past half an hour later, there was a line out the door. There’s a company here in Melbourne Australia that does a copy (I doubt they are the same company), but it’s not quite the same. I still prefer Ringo. 🍎

Yes, you can SMELL it baking :) there’s one in Tokyo Station too I think. At least, I smelled Apple Pie (with custard!) the charge a premium but I think that’s why they’ll stay in business for a while. These sweets go through popularity bursts. PAPA BEARD shu cream was big a decade ago and now no one lines up for it. The next big thing came and stole their thunder. Same for McDonald’s Japan. Innovate or lose your edge! (Same with ONLY in JAPAN on KZbin!)

The first few years of our marriage, women (strangers) would hit on my guy when I wasn’t around, even though it’s clear he was wearing a wedding band. We didn’t know till his co-workers told him that some people love pursuing married folk...it’s actually a thing. We just laughed it off. Like you said as well. I think it came out a bit earlier than 72 hours ago. Last week we were in tokyo and we bought a pack of those kitkats to bring back home. Still haven’t tried them...there was a sweet potato flavor which was new to us...didnt get those dont think flavor would work

You should get an apple pie, melt the kit kat and pour over the pie and have it with ice cream

You need to rinse your mouth in between the kit kat and the apple pie. But mixing them, the actual flavor from each one is not there anymore. Next time, have one in one day. The next day, have another one. Then montage the whole video. It will be more objective that way.
