I was playing one of the normal, non-Go Pokemon games, and I came across a shiny Slugma. It was white, so it looked like a sock covered in droopy jizz, and it disgusted me so much I just KOd it after debating for like 15 minutes over whether I should catch it just because it was a shiny. Its shiny evolved form looked pretty cool but I hated the idea of having to look at that nasty thing over and over until I could level it up enough. So I understand the sentiment but for me the worst thing was finding the one shiny I just couldn't stand to catch.

If we’re out somewhere and I want to talk to him, he’s always doing gym battles or trading. I completely regret showing him the game tbh. It could’ve been a way for us to hang out but instead it’s really put a block in between us. It even is a reason my parents fight, it’s no joke.

The funniest part about them toting that their Apple office is "clean energy" is that they most likely only mean the offices in the U.S. and not any other Apple factory with offices. As a one piece fan, and with a sibling who's an even bigger one piece fan, they did a great job at making the show feel like One Piece. We do have our gripes with some of the writing, but over all it's really fun to watch. :D It's honestly crazy how well they were able to adapt One Piece's goofyness to live action, while still making it feel believable.

Tons of people still play! But I think if you live in smaller cities/towns then the game is probably a lot more dead. I live in a big city in Canada and there's definitely a very active player base. Most of em are like your stepdad - older, no previous interest in Pokemon, not playing with their kids or anything lol. I'm 28 and I've been playing with my mom (50s) since launch. It's our main thing that we meet up to do together haha

I finally quit playing Pokemon GO a few months ago because it was absolutely miserable playing it in my area. There are so few stops and zero people playing. Even the Aus POGO Discord I was on went from pretty active to dead quiet, not even people posting raids anymore. I struggle to walk thanks to a myriad of health issues, and they rolled back so many of the accessibility features they added during the pandemic as well, making it even more frustrating to play. Hearing both of you talk about it is making me want to start again though...The FOMO of missing out on shiny Pokemon and Legendaries is still strong lol.

I used to work at a major zoo, and we genuinely got more traffic in 2016 from advertising our Pokéstops than we had gotten spending money on billboard ads. Also I remember the guest services folks would capture all the gyms during the day and the security guys would capture them back for their team at night. It was a fun rivalry. Very different game back then of course but it was a good timekiller for a retail job.

In regards to IRL streamers. I used to work in Little Tokyo and an IRL streamer had managed to squeeze into the store right before we closed. We don’t allow filming inside of the store unless we have exclusively agreed to do so, so he had to leave his phone outside while having the rest of his gear on him inside the store. He was the last person in line and as I was going through his items to check him out, his Bluetooth JBL speaker goes off with all of his streaming notifications on full blast. One of which happened to be the generic nsfw sound bit. The music had been cut off since we were closing and the acoustics were such that every time it went off it just echoed throughout the entire store. Everyone kept it very professional so no one said anything other than the typical conversation you have with a cashier. As soon as we closed the doors behind him we lost our shit and laughed for a good five minutes. Watching him desperately fumble to try and lower the volume on that speaker as it slowly went off more and more kind of made up for the fact that he threw a fit originally when we told him he couldn’t stream the store. This was at the peak of when stores like ours went a bit viral on TikTok. At this point I was telling three or four IRL streamers a day that they couldn’t film inside the store and had to deal with their fits-so seeing it backfire this way was pretty nice.

Want to point out as well that most companies will tout a product being carbon neutral but using countless resources to say... make chips for smartphones, but then they party with a company and plant trees. They realistically aren't helping the environment by pivoting their business model or how the build their devices they're just adding the number of tree they supposedly plant and acting like that cancels out the damage they've done. It's usually entirely self-serving and to try to get their public image slightly more 'Clean'.

There was no battle league, rocket grunts didnt exist, and raids were barely functional. Fast forward to now where i’ve shot up 15 million points, catching legendaries in gbl, and soloing 3 star metagross raids. This game slaps.
