Apple should've just started another company under its umbrella, it's branding with computers and phones is too strong. That's like McDonald's trying to get into the clothing business but keeping the same name and brand. It will probably do well but that's just my gut feeling

Elon Musk speak since 2012 and 2014 about the try of Apple to grab good Tesla Ingenieurs. So it is very realistic that Apple create there first elektric car by working 4 Times longer than Tesla to have it. But also very realistic, Apple gave up completely and sell Software to Car-Companys. We have to understand that Apple is an Software Gigant. So it's quite unlikely that they are able to became a car producer. Since 2012 the try to became a Carproducer and may be after 16 Jears of trying the became good. But they are not an battery-company. So all in all they have to wait, to create a wonderful car until wonderful battery's are invented and normal, at the Mass marked. All in all its really likely they can not compete with tesla until 2032. After that time it makes no difference for the range, if the software eat up the power of the battery. And how knowes if Goggle is much more faster on Automatic taxis in big City's by making sensores in the streets. Apple has the most money of all, but also big problem if they not produce software. They will benefit of the efforts of other company much.

By the way, most of tesla car parts are not made by tesla. For example, the batteries are from Panasonic as far as I know.
