Relax. It's first generation people. Most people walked around with flip phones 15-20 years ago. I wouldn't be an early adopter, but a couple of generations of improvements...

Silicon Valley has been trying to make VR and AR happen for more than a decade and the consumers rejected it every time. Remember google glasses? Just like 3D movies, it's an edge case. It's fun for a bit, watching a movie, playing some particular type of game (like driving simulators), but pretending this is going to be a huge part of people's lives is ridiculous.
@lntg
@lntg 8 ай бұрын
@@therighteous802 Talk about stuck in your ways syndrome. Doubting that in 20 years this isn't going to be exponentially better is ridiculous in my opinion. It's very much in it's infancy and needs mass production and price decreases across the industry to fund more innovation, I feel that goes without saying.

@@therighteous802I’ve started seeing kids wearing quest headsets at restaurants. The quest2 on par with if not outselling the latest Xbox console. I do t think it’s just an edge case.

@@therighteous802 Eventually it will be half the price, half the size and with more use cases every new gen release. I am PC/Android user, but I have seen this game play out over and over again. Prior versions of a similar product were uncool and for the techies, but Apple enters and gradually or quickly the sentiment changes (think Pebble Watch to the Apple watch, and Blue tooth Jawbone to the AirPods). It never pays to bet against Apple's ability to change consumer opinions.

Think about the very first iPhone - it didn't have 3G, the App Store didn't exist, it was 3 times thicker than the phones we have today with a screen resolution that wasn't even standard definition. That was less than 15 years ago.
@willsk3122
@willsk3122 8 ай бұрын
But the iphone cost like $700 in todays money so a lot of people could buy because at least functioned as a phone, this doesn't really replace anything because of its small battery life so not only do you need to spend $3500 but you need to spend money on a phone and laptop still.

Imo if all you want is watching movie, a quest 3 can be at least 90% as good as a VP, Q3's screens aren't as good and the interface isn't perfect but it's lighter and the screen and lenses are already way better than Q2, and obviously it coast 7 times less that a VP which is an important point

I was expecting them to completely gloss over the fact that other VR headsets exist, but they just _almost_ glossed over it. Still, even if this is the extravagant option I am quite sure that it will benefit the whole VR world in the long run.
