Apple vs. the Green Bubbles: the cracks beginning to show in its walled garden

The stigma is real. Blue bubbles for iPhone users, green bubbles for those shut out of Apple's walled garden. iMessage has been a way of locking users into the Apple ecosystem for more than a decade. But the exclusionary nature of the battle has since come under fire, and Apple is now bending to the green bubble evangelists, in just one of a growing number of concessions it's making to appease regulators.

"Green vs. Blue that might be next..." would be inaccurate to say since RCS is a part of the change, but the green bubbles to differentiate is there to stay. Apple will follow the law, but there won't be a law over the choice of color, or if there is, that's a ridiculous amount of oversight.

Totally agree! Apple created the blue bubble color for chats between iPhone to iPhone. Any other non Apple device should get a different color and not the full functionalities.However, I agree that Apple should have allowed Android users to receive higher resolution of pics /videos and some features. They can support RCS but they don't have to support all of iMessages features. Apple has always been a proprietary company. If you want all that food stuff then get iPhone/iPad/Mac device. Hate to tell you this, but all the independent tests show that on average and iPhone will outlast a comparable android battery. And that has gotten better and better over the years. I travel for business, and I’ve been through some of the busiest airports in the US and I can tell you the hat I see far more iPhones then I do androids. In fact I love to play this game. How many androids can I spot. It’s typical eight out of 10 phones that I see in airports or iPhones and what is even more interesting is even when you see I cannot tell you maybe a handful of times have I seen an android tablet I have seen android phones, but I cannot remember the last time I saw android tablet. I always see people with iPads.

The paid version of beeper did not have the messages pass thru beeper before being delivered. There were other versions that did pass thru beeper first, but not the paid one. Also, the rcs standard apple is adopting does not have encryption.

One thing to be made clear is that the reason that android doesn't have the same chat features when communicating with an iPhone is because Apple uses SMS messaging. When communicating with an iPhone it goes through the internet on iMessage servers when texting another iPhone. When and iPhone user texts an android user it uses SMS messaging which does not have those extra chat features because it's almost 3 decade old tech. All android phones have been using RCS messaging since 2020 and has all the features of iPhone when communicating to another android. Apple does this on purpose to keep there own users thinking that their platform is more advanced.

You know it’s interesting how the European Union does with tech but yet they have never bothered Walmart. Walmart to this date does not accept any third-party payment. It is either a credit card cash or Walmart pay. But yet any other retailer takes at minimum usually Apple Pay, and pay some have added Samsung pay. The other interesting thing is people forget to mention that with iMessage it works across any Apple product. It is not just iPhones, and Apple has an ecosystem that cannot be android. Will never be able to have that ecosystem because there’s too many manufacturers, running too many variations, and too many different versions of the OS .

Apple makes debilitated hardware and software designed for the average Joe/Karen who doesn't know any better. All their products are: - way overpriced, meanwhile Apple manufactures their products in China at the cheapest rate possible hahaha... - locked down behind some paywall - use proprietary hardware and software (are not open source & not compatible with other brands) - don't allow users to customize things themself - are designed so that you can´t replace/repair things yourself (despite Apples claims that they care about the environment...) - are designed to be obsolete withing a year or two so that you go back and spend another few thousand dollars at Apple Store I could go on and on about why you should not use apple products... So NO, if you use an Apple device you are not better than someone else. It is the other way around. What makes me qualified to give such statements? I am a software developer myself :D
