I think one main benefit people miss when it comes to the cellular version is peace of mind. What do I mean by this..? There are some of us that are dads and husbands that would very much appreciate the fact that in case of an emergency, there is a second layer of opportunity to make an emergency call or text if needed with the apple watch for kids or spouses. I think for kids the Bluetooth or “GPS” one is fine, unless your a parent that wants that extra layer of “safety” in situations where a kid may loose or let their phone die but for adults it’s smart to go with cellular if ur able to afford the extra cost on your bill. I have Verizon it’s only 10$ for my watch plan and worth every penny. very handy to have ur phone right on your wrist and not worry about having your phone in hand 24/7. If my phone dies, gets stolen, lost or broken I’m not without a way to call home or help if needed! As a woman I think it’s almost like extra security as well. & It’s actually helped me cut down on my screen time with my phone.

Okay so I got cellular not so long ago and tbh it does in fact come in handy. I am a package handler at FedEx and for security reasons they won’t let us bring our phones into the facility. Tbh I don’t like knowing my phone is away and at any given moment a family emergency can pop up and I need to leave right away or something yk? It works bc if I can’t have my phone at least they can’t tell me the watch isn’t allowed and if something happens I can be there.

Will The gps only let us track where we are on a map app or such? Is there a special mayday type of use of gps only? Can the altitude be adjusted.. for instance, if I got to the beach can I calibrate it to 0 and then it will be fairly accurate? I find the phone and apps are different .. sometimes by 50 feet or more.. so it comes down to if I trust or believe it. Does apple have a complete manual type of thing (PDF etc.) that can be used?

So the interesting thing is you actually can save 60 dollars in 2 years if you get the cellular model. Right now with T-mobile there offering the ultra for 600$ on a 2 year contract. Then the service is only 10$ a month for the watch.

You have to pay for the the watch to have cellular line 🫤 it’s usually around an extra 20$ a month depending on provider, not really worth it unless you constantly leave your phone behind

Everything else can still be used though outside of range. Sorry if it’s a redundant question but I know nothing about technology and want to make sure I buy the proper Xmas gift.

I switched to the cellular model a year ago and the stress relief of NOT have to carry the phone with you all the time is well worth it.
