I’m already in the habit of throwing my watch on the charger 30 min before bed and that seems to work great along with charging during a shower. I’d take the slimmer design.

For me it's not a case of having to charge it every day, like you say I don't actually think it's an issue as you can just put it on charge whilst you're in the shower and getting ready. For me though it's whether you can use it extensively in a full day if you're out or taking a trip somewhere and without having to worry it will last. Maybe it will, I actually have no idea but I do love the Ultra because something like that is never a worry.

​@@theunemployedddIn my opinion, the real issue with the Apple Watch battery isn't about having multi-day battery life, but simply being able to consistently last through a full day. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. For me, on a typical workday spent mostly indoors (like in an office) with perhaps an hour of physical activity, the battery life is satisfactory. However, during vacations or weekends, it never manages to last the whole day. In the worst cases, it lasts less than half a day. Here’s why: if you spend several hours outdoors in bright environments (like at the beach in the summer), the screen consumes much more power. The only solution I’ve found is turning off the always-on display, but that’s annoying. Another issue is using the LTE function (without having my iPhone with me, which I enjoy on my time off). The battery can't last a full day in this mode, even if I don’t end up using the watch for calls. I essentially have to disable connectivity and only turn it on when I need to make a call or check missed ones-again, quite frustrating. Additionally, there are plenty of activities that aren't extreme enough to justify using the Ultra model but are simply long and relaxed, like a full-day family walk or bike ride. It’s impossible to track these properly with the standard Apple Watch. The GPS is fine for 1-2 hours of sport, but not for a long day out. Lastly, beyond these limitations, a larger battery would also reduce wear over time. Because the Apple Watch drains fully every day, the battery wear is significant, and after about two years, it needs to be replaced. In contrast, a phone with a larger battery wears out much more slowly because it's not strained as much each day-even with similar charging habits (like plugging it in overnight).

Titanium actually scratches easier than stainless steel. The titanium Watch has a pvd coating. Even the natural colour one.

I got the slate titanium Series 10 46mm with the slate new Milanese loop. I wish the band was easier to put on and take off. I find it very difficult and too tight when sliding in to the band mechanism. It’s almost like Apple made the cutouts way too small for the new Milanese loop.

The battery concerns are addressed with the fast charging. The life of the battery doesn’t matter if it takes too long to charge which is Apple went with fixing the charging speed first. Most people don’t realize their watch is dead until they’re getting ready to leave so faster charging resolves that problem. Also, low power mode came to Apple Watch a while ago to extend the life even more so let’s not act Apple isn’t trying to help with battery life complaints. So if you really want the longest lasting battery you’ve gotta go Ultra.

So I’m coming from the Ultra 1, my battery health was okay but I could tell not lasting AS long as it once was. I started to notice more that whenever I wanted to wear a long sleeve, hoodie or anything that needed to cover the watch was extremely difficult to get over. So once I saw the series 10 in person and felt how LIGHT and thin it was I knew I was going to upgrade to it (some will think its a downgrade, I do not) the fast charging is nice and I have had it over a week and never felt like im bummed about the battery life. The sleekness means more to me now and there is sleep apnea detection which is a nice little feature! 😊

I found out I had sleep apnoea by using sleep watch on my Apple Watch. It wasn’t directly it was just that my oxygen saturation was in the 70s while I slept. That prompted me to have a sleep study which showed that I have central sleep apnea. I use oxygen by nasal prongs at night and have an apnoea alarm that will wake me up for a long pauses

Would also love to see a test on scratch resistance of the titanium with the milanese loop. Or on your next update to see if they got scratched or not. I’m seeing others mentioning how titanium scratches easier than stainless steel as well as how often the hardness of the milanese loop scratches polished metal. I screwed up with the Apple Watch 9 and got the 41mm, which is way too small. I really like the titanium aesthetic, but I can’t justify the price. Also, the black looks terrible to me aside from it being a little shiny. Definitely would go for the silver aluminum.

I just purchased the 10 - (upgraded from my 8), I really like the face layout you shown on this video thumbnail - I am not very familiar with the Apple Watch, using it only several times because it seem wonky and only used the vers. 8, about 12 x and so not sure of choosing the Watch Face you are using, and it looks like you have set up "widgets" for the Watch ( i never got use to the tiny little round icons and found it confusing) I'd love to know how to set up the Widgets like you show on this video thumbnail - and use the same watch face you are using. thanks for any help!

I think Dave2D summed up the decision to not improve the battery life pretty well. It’s probably not written it to add another 5 or even 10 hours of battery life and making the watch thicker still you would still have to charge it everyday. They would need to get it up to ultra battery life better it would really matter and at that point the thickness trade off is too big for the standard watch

I just can’t understand how it’s being said the 10 is bigger than the Ultra. The side by side image presented clearly shows the Ultra is a larger watch. The display may have looked the same, but the watch remains smaller. I’m so keen to see it and compare it myself when it arrives in-store this weekend.

Bezels on the ultra 2 are likely thicker. So ultra 2 sapphire front is bigger still but the usable screen is likely smaller.

smaller battery will go through more charge cycles and will wear out sooner than the same technology battery on the ultra in a 2 year period. 10 smaller size is kinda great. If you have the wrist to rock with the ultra 2, one can go with that instead. Especially when you consider that they cost almost the same.

The actual case (Aluminum or titanium) is the same thickness. It is the glass sensor on the back which was reduced in depth. It IS slightly more comfortable being thinner. 😊

So I am finally upgrading from a Series 4, I saw that my Series 4 was gonna be unsupported way back when Apple announced WatchOS 11 and I knew it was time, I have found myself wondering every year if it is worth it and I hope I made the right choice... I really don't know what more they could add or change. When my Series 0 got recalled and Apple replaced it with a Series 1 the performance gains were huge and I use the smallest watch because my wrists are small 🤣 so upgrading from the Series 1 to Series 4 was also huge for me. I have yet to see anyone do a side by side comparison with the smaller watches but I think its still going to be a noticeable upgrade for me in terms of screen size... great video, I have been watching since the Apple Watch World days and just really love the Apple Watch and feel like a lot of people have been forgetting it

I was debating going back to the regular apple watch because I wanted something a little smaller and understated than the ultra. I feel litigation postponed the major change for Apple Watch and Watch Ultra another year. While the legal concerns don’t affect us outside the US. It’s the US market which controls the evolution. I’m trading my series 7 and going to keep this Series 10 through the transition so I can enjoy my current bands as long as possible.
