The siren gets louder, it starts off more quiet. I just used mine it does indeed get very loud. In the bare outdoors you could definitely hear this from far away

Looks like you wear you watch too low. Most watches, especially with the sensors, recommend to wear them above the wrist bone (that little bump on your wrist). That would allow you to wear it normally and not have it interfere with your wrist movement.

I have a 6” inch wrist ( female) and I currently wear a 45mm steel series 7. I just received the Ultra and it’s not that big, I absolutely love it!

Why do you wear your watch so close to your hand? Of course it is going to restrict movement. Just move it back an inch or so and you will be able to freely move It's a wrist watch.. not a hand watch.

If you don't like limited movement of your wrist, then wear the watch behind the knuckle (= at the end of your arm just before the wrist). In fact that's how watches are supposed to be worn. I don't want to sound too high brow, but as a bit of a watch buff it always hurts my soul to see people wear their watches *on* the wrist. Check out Apple's marketing material - they wear the watch correctly behind the knuckle. Spread the word!

I’ve always heard this but it feels awkward. I suppose because I wear watches wrong. I will try to do this from now on and see how it feels. It definitely looks like my arm grew because there is more area between my hand and watch now 😂.

I have owned some wrist watches that only tell time that when adjusted for inflation would cost more than the Apple Watch Ultra. When it come to watches the new Apple Watch 8 Ultra I feel comes in at a very good price of $ 799.00. One thing so far I have not herd from most of the pundits is the flat sapphire crystal, and protection up to the edge. This is a big feature for me. Have had sapphire on my watches before I moved to an Apple Watch. My first Apple Watch screen took a beating and was a little scratched up. Now my Apple Watch 5 always has a Smiling Case Compatible with Apple Watch Series 6/SE/Series 5/Series 4 44mm with Built in Tempered Glass Screen Protector,Overall Protective Hard PC Case Ultra-Thin Cover- Clear. So far no scratches, however when I sweat the perspiration gets under the protector so I have to take it off to dry it out when I get home. If I did not already have an Apple Watch the Apple Watch 8 Ultra is the model I would purchase. Thing is since I already have the Apple Watch 5 that does everything I want it to do except glucose monitoring (really want), or blood pressure monitoring (would be nice) I will stick with my Apple Watch 5.

I had some reservations on the size of the ultra until I started wearing it and using it. It is just easier because of its size. Plus, the added battery life is nice. There are several other things that it does that I am finding interesting like the ECG. And you can never go wrong with having a compass when you are at the grocery store. Great video as always!

I hate my Ultra. It’s harder to use the crown because of that huge hump around it. It’s harder to swipe between screens cuz of that lip. And it’s freaking too high! Long sleeve shirts will be a pain.

Got mine Friday. I'm a Scuba Instructor and used it this past weekend during 4 dives in the Florida springs. Two dives Saturday Devils Den and two dives Sunday on Rainbow river. Being a long time diver I also had my Teric on the right wrist with the Ultra on my left. Two things; 1st off the dive strap is too short and #2 the dive app is not available to download yet ???? The Ultra is replacing my Series 5, but "most" likely will replace any of my dive computers. I'm a big dive watch guy so the 49mm is to my liking, the color and brightness is pretty sweet too. Easy to see even in full daylight at depth on Rainbow River and of course super easy in the Devils Den Grotto.. I'm a long time viewer, enjoy your Vids, you've given me lots of good advice and pointers I use on my channel. Regards Bob C

Just got mine yesterday. Love it so far. Battery life (so far) is amazing. Candidly, although I'm in the Ozarks, I do SOME trail walking/hiking, but won't be THAT adventurous. I just wanted a large screen Apple Watch. It will sit alongside my Series 7 Hermes, my Montblanc Summit 3, and yes, even my Samsung Watch 5 Pro.

I like larger watches and I’m loving the Ultra!! Bigger screen, more rugged look and twice the battery life sealed it for me. It’s also a good value at 799 when you consider the 45 MM Titanium Apple Watch from last year was $50 more and didn’t offer any of these benefits. I won’t be diving, but I really like the ocean band. I’m planning to keep my 45MM SS Series 7 for formal occasions, especially since Apple only offered $150 to trade it in.

Yay, another man who wears the 41mm AW. I’ll guess that you have smaller wrists like me (I can wear an Apple strap that goes to 180mm) … and not only does the smaller size wear more comfortably, but fits under the cuff of a dress shirt better. With a protective case, I think the 41mm ends up a bit larger than old-fashioned 40mm automatic watch cases. Surprisingly, even teh smaller model can get yanked off my wrist (with the Leather Magnetic Links bracelet) by a couple of my jackets. And yes, an emergency whistle is a must for trail jogging, mountaineering, etc. I have a Hurricane whistle both in case I need help, but also to (hopefully) ward off aggressive dogs.

The first thing I thought when I saw this video was…..I can’t wait to see how this watch looks on your wrist! You’ve got a smaller wrist….always wear the 41mm AW so I thought it would swallow your wrist. It did! I’ve seen a lot of forum posts of the Ultra on smaller wrists and it always looks a bit like a shrunken down iPad mini strapped to a wrist. I know Apple’s designed this primarily as a “tool” watch so aesthetics aren’t necessarily the primary focus. Still though….I really don’t think this watch is made for those with smaller wrists. So over here in Swaziland, Africa, since they don't sell apple products here in this country, they do sell in neighboring South Africa, and I did some price checking, and the new Iphone 14 is equivalent to being 600 dollars more expensive over here than it is in the USA. I wonder how much more the watch Uktra will be. As I do serious hiking and this would be an essential tool. Does it have the same satellite SOS feature as the phone ?

Great video. One of the “sport KZbinrs” either Chase the Summit or Desfit tested the alarm out on the trail and said it carried farther than they thought and its execution was very good. It gets progressively louder, has an unusual pitch to catch attention and does SOS as well as siren sounds.

My girlfriend and I tested it yesterday in the local national park. The alarm carried well, in a light rain, for a quarter mile. I was able to hone in on her location fairy easily. This will depend on the terrain, but in a last aid situation it’s a great extra string to weave into your safety net.

I just got mine yesterday - and I quickly switched the Midnight Ocean strap for the standard grey Sport band that came free with the titanium Series 5 that I got a while back :) It doesn't look as good but it is really easy to put on
