Agree. Went to Columbus Ohio ( about 30 miles north of me) to look at a Stelvio, and the dealer was shut down. No warning, like go to work and there is a sign on the door type of thing. TONS of vehicles on the lot but dealer closed doors locked. All cars there were to go to Cleveland or Cincinnati. The Dodge dealership COULD sell me one ( same dealer) and his Alfa service tech stayed at the Dodge side. They could do maintenance work, but any warranty or recall work would have to be done in Cincinnati or Cleveland. The Hornet being the exception, but a no go on the Tonale. I believe this is a Stellantis/environment problem. Perhaps the Government here demanding electric only vehicles, when the market, infrastructure and common sense doesn't support that. Combine poor management and cost cutting from Stellantis, AND poor government policies and you get this.

Stellantis clearly doesn't understand the American car market and is destroying any market share the old Chrysler brands and old Fiat brands may have had here. There's a reason why French brands haven't really sold well in the American car market, they're not that good and they don't know how to market to us. I remember when Peugeot was in the American market in the late 1980's and early 1990's, when they tried to work with AMC. Chrysler bought AMC along with their Jeep and Eagle brands, kicked Peugeot out and got rid of AMC. What Peugeot did have in the Eagle brand was older Mazda technology and Chrysler got that and improved their cars in the 1990's with models like the Intrepid and the cab-forward design. Then they redesigned the Dodge pickups making them a serious competitor against Ford and Chevy. But anyway, I digress, Stellantis has fully wrecked Chrysler and Dodge, and I fear to the point that they will not be around in a couple of years. Chrysler now only has one Model, the Pacifica, and Dodge has what, 3 or 4 models, if that? Then they go and make Ram and Jeep, "upscale, luxury" vehicles, to where a Ram Tradesman base model work truck is over $40,000, when they should be under $30,000. Nope, Stellantis needs to reevaluate their marketing of the Chrysler brands, and either fix their marketing strategy of sell off the Chrysler brands, but I have no idea who would buy them, except for maybe the Jeep/Ram brand.
@antonmealy1682 ай бұрын
Not that I'd defend the recent efforts of Fiat/Chrysler.. But did you mean Renault rather than Peugeot? & I don't think either had technology resembling that of Mazda nor Italian Fiat. Despite buying Simca after it died under Chrysler's ownership (Simca assembled Fiat designs in France in the '30's) And Renaults influence at AMC allowed development of the Eagle Premier that provided the architecture for the later Intrepid...

I think Dodge will be around far longer, but more like Jaguar as a semi-exotic sports car dealer rather than a big mainstream manufacturer. Here in Europe they are already doing that with very few dealers that have only the nice V8 cars that people actually like on the lot.

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and can't remember the last time I've seen one actually on the road instead of languishing on dealer lots. I wondered why because it looks awesome and seems to be really fun to drive, so it should be a no brainer to buy one as everyone wants small SUVs. Then I looked at the prices...the cheapest one I could find in my city was $46,000 CAD and as high as $70,000 CAD!!! That's $34,000 to $51,000 in Freedom Dollars. That is pants-on-head crazy for a compact SUV. Dodge doesn't have the brand panache to be commanding that kind of price. They have ideas above their station.

We've met peak saturation as consumers where the younger generations can neither afford nor want to drive themselves. The older generations have been bitten by Stellantis and European cars, or have been exposed to the maintenance sticker shock by proxy. Add to that it has a Dodge badge, which does not attract Alfa Romeo money, only with an Alfa Romeo price tag. It is a mashup of too expensive for the brand, missed mark for targeted market (or mistargeted market), and the European bad aftertaste of preventative maintenance for all who may have considered it. It is a good thing they came down on the price to move them, but now the economy may still dissuade potential buyers except rental car fleets. That's probably where we're going to see most of them go.
