I believe Trivial Pursuit is viewed as one of the most likely games to trigger angry and arguments between the players even having at one stage possessing a dedicated helpline to provide impartial adjudication from the company.

Actually you’re not far off. Storyboard artist Raven Molisee said that she finished that episode at 4AM on the day it was due. She also said that she based Twilight’s deteriorating appearance on her own as the night went on.

Strangely enough, I really like Twilight in this episode. Not only is her competitiveness rivaling RD and AJ here, but it’s also really funny. Not only that, but the episode after this is “The Summer Sun Setback”, where Twilight really showed her growth when she stopped being so obsessive and frantic. I’m betting that this episode was the reason why. Twilight has Twilighted for a lot of things throughout the series, but after she saw how she hurt Pinkie Pie’s feelings over a trivia contest, she realized how destructive her behavior was. That’s why she was so calm in the next episode, and why I’m perfectly fine with her behavior here.

Considering Twilight's perfectionist mindset and her extreme OCD, and considering how OCD people tend to act when it comes to trivia games or really any competitive 'buzz your answer' game, it really wasn't that out of character for her.

I know I'm like two years late, but I don't care lol. So here's the thing, it bugs me that almost everyone after watching this episode starts to shout and blame Twilight when they don't even try to see things from her view. And no of course I'm not siding with her actions, they were totally wrong (especially when she got Pinkie disqualified, that got me really peeved), but Twilight had really practiced and prepared for this game for a while and it wasn't quite nice of Pinkie to not take it seriously and just be this distracting person to not just Twilight but to everyone. And Twilight did try to coach her in the beginning and I just feel like Pinkie wasn't taking it very seriously even when she knew that game was important for Twilight. She could've been a little more respective and tried a little harder. So I don't blame Twilight for getting frustrated when Pinkie was being distracting. But the whole situation how Twilight treated Pinkie was totally wrong and unecceptible and I felt really bad for Pinkie. Instead Twilight should've just told Pinkie that she was being a little distracting and that she really wanted to focus on the game. But I give props to Twilight when she went to apologize to Pinkie and finally realised that her friends were way more important than the game, and even started from zero just so she could have fun with Pinkie! So yeah, that's just my opinion though 😅. Jeez long text, if you read this far props to you.

I don't. She didn't even try to participate honestly in this game. She literally trolled every answer, was totally inconsiderate that Twilight has been preparing for weeks and had an ambition to fulfill. The least Pinkie could do is try to cooperate but she went into her "zombie fun" where nothing and nobody matters but her self indulgence.

I wonder why every time there's a pinkie pie episode, everyone has to give up their ambition, personality or beliefs because otherwise pinkie pie feels bad and the character is baaaad. Meanwhile pinkie pie totally shits on things that characters care about, doesnt listen to them, is obnoxious or even downright hurtful (episode with singing fluttershy).

It's the writing. The show writers should really communicate more and think about how they're portraying characters. Pinkie pie is the element of laughter. She's supposed to be making ponies happy. But in a lot of the episodes, she's indirectly not sticking to her element. It's all bad writing.

​@@JJScene Real. Flanderization affected Pinkie Pie so bad in later seasons. It seemed the writers wanted her to be the silly character, and she started to lack self awareness and knew nothing about boundaries. Rock Solid Friendship felt particularly aggravating for that reason. Really miss season 2 pinkie, where she was a really optimistic friend, who is also really dedicated at being a beam of light to cheer up others, sometimes at the expense of her own happiness. It gave her a complexity that's really lacking later on. Sad fate :(

To be honest, while I don't agree with Twilight's behavior... I still don't think it's all that out of character for her. Still, I think this would probably have been more at home in either season 2 or season 4, back when it was still fairly new territory for her. Either way, I really like this episode, and I think it has a fun character dynamic.

Maybe because every time Pinkie answered she gave a joke answer that was wrong completely ruining Twilight's score? And despite Twilights best attempts at first, Pinkie just couldnt cooperate? Should I somehow handicap your dreams or your work for fun for you to understand what exactly pinkie pie was doing to Twilight?

Someone can say that Pinkie is the wrong one in episode but Twilight was cheating the entire time so she is even more wrong in this episode. Someone like that don't deserve to be a princess of friendship and more someone like that don't deserve to rule Equestria. I like this episode because this episode shows who is the ruler of Equestria now and why she don't deserve this.

Poor Pinkie by the way. Sorry for saying this but Twilight is one of my less liked main characters, compare her to Ellie from the last of us 2 and Twilight is still amazing because Ellie is terrible but when I compare Twilight to Bloom, Iris or even Rose from Regal Academy, Twilight is pretty terrible.
