@@Sah-dd1zh $399 described as affordable was the biggest joke.
@Sah-dd1zh2 күн бұрын
@ they are more affordable than the Serena shades and they are arguably the most reliable brand in the smart home. Affordable is subjective and means different things to different people.
@heyaisdabombКүн бұрын
@@Sah-dd1zh Just buy rollease acmeda, so much more affordable and still very reliable. I sold and installed all of the major systems in large and small projects, many 50+ motor projects. Lutron is the most stable, but it's way over priced, and it has too many size limitations. Small window? Can't use lutron. Small opening on a medium sized window? Can't do inside mount cause the tubes are monsters for no reason. Rollease can go down to 15" windows, up to basically any sized window, and it's 95% reliable in my experience for 1/3rd of the price. And if you need parts, you can order them yourself online. 2 years of apple homekit with rollease, and I rarely have had any issues.
@thames21Күн бұрын
@@Sah-dd1zh Affordable housing projects means it's affordable for people who have limited means. Yes we could go autistic and say "If you have a billion dollars, 400 dollars is affordable", but I disagree with your statement; there's very much an implied deffinition/meaning to the word "Affordable", and it's not: "It's less expensive than something that's even less affordably priced".

Abbott already has a product similar if not identical to lingo, it’s the freestyle libre. Lingo seems to be a reskinned version of it, nothing new or innovative and unfortunately unlike blood oxygen monitoring on the Apple Watch, CGM is in a whole different technology that Apple can’t achieve with their current products.
@AppleInsiderКүн бұрын
This is the general consumer version of the Freestyle Libre. It requires no prescription and is basically the same tech. It's just as accurate but doesn't offer low/high alerts and doesn't go as high or low on the graphs because it isn't intended for diabetics. It's very different though in the app in how it is packaged and presented for normal, healthy people to how their daily activities and food impacts their blood sugar. They aren't pretending this is new technology, but it's the first time that this tech has been available to literally anyone.

It would seem that as part of an effort to be first to put something on KZbin, Andrew & Co. ended up with a collection of middling products (with a few exceptions). This said, I truly hope there is more that will come out of this, and that AppleInsider will be able to produce more in-depth presentations showing us meaningful, more impactful products (as opposed to junk gadgets).

The biggest problem with smart home stuff from an Australian perspective, the power grid can't cope now, the government here is called the Canberra clown show because this group of idiots can't find their ass with two hands and a map, never mind figure out a solution to the issues facing our country, and smart home would require more electricity, just like EV cars, see first comment about the grid
