What I really want is a HomeKit motion sensor that triggers my security camera. Home security still seems to be a big gap in HomeKit. Lighting isn’t that much better either. It’s fine for a sensor to turn on a light for X mins then turn it off, but what if it was already on (meaning you don’t want it to turn off after the delay)? HomeKit needs to remember “state”, so it can return to the previous state (rather than turn off) once a task has been run.

Can I use this to set up a scenario where it will get Alexa to notify me when someone is at the front door?
@Homeneer4 жыл бұрын
Yes I think that's doable. I have my Philips Hue connected via the Smartthings hub to Alexa. Connecting to Alexa can be done via other hubs as well. In Alexa with a routine you can make Alexa say something.

How does the sensor communicate with the home network - WiFi, proprietary? What is the maximum range from the house or hub? Also, can the sensor trigger an audible alert? Thanks!

Thanks for a great video! Do you know if it is possible for the sensor to make my lamp by the outdoor to change colour or the light intensity when motion is detected and after let say 1min go back to dimmed mode? What I am looking for is to have my outdoor lights on auto every evening on dimmed, but if someone is entering my frontyard it will brighten up and then get back to dimmed after some minutes. Thanks in advance :)

I bought this motion sensor for an outdoor balcony November 2022. Changing the motion settings on app, there are 5 settings, very low, low, medium, high, very high. The medium default setting is very sensitive & causes a "false positive" trigger at the smallest movement, the low setting doesn't register motion at all no matter what. As a result the motion sensor has been switched off & is unusable. Hue technical support didn't want to listen to my feedback & were unhelpful. Also I have the newer generation without screws on the back & it is very difficult to open to change the batteries. Be careful, it bites! Maybe I got a dud unit I don't know, however unfortunately I cannot in good conscience recommend buying the Hue outdoor motion sensor.

At 4:00 you tell about Motion, Light and Temperature sensors.... But I can’t find any manual telling how you can use the hue outdoor sensor as a dusk-dawn-sensor. Can you tell wether the outdoor sensor can act as a light sensor, turning on lights simply when it gets dark?

the packaging in New Zealand and Australia is different to yours. It states the ip water rating as only 54. I thought it would have been at least 65 been an outside product and the picture on the box shows the sensor in pouring rain. New Zealand is a sub tropical area of the world with high humidity and anything that is outside if it is not water tight only lasts one or two seasons. so spending $95 (price here) for something that may not last is a bit of a waste. This is a shame as I was looking forward to this product. ALso one last thing with the temperature sensor I have been hoping Hue or a 3rd party will make a app to track the temperatures in a graph with a history for a week or so. if you know of one please let me know. thanks.

2 year warrenty should be included. If it survives those years, its probably water resistant enough.

There are very few brands where everything I have ever purchased from them is complete junk. Philips is one of those brands.
@AppleInsider5 жыл бұрын
Don't forget this is a separate company. Idk what "Philips" products you are referring to, but Hue is run by a separate company that goes by Signify and they license the Philips name years ago when it split off. Any other Philips stuff is not by the same company in this case. If you are talking about bulbs, I'm honestly surprised because my house is filled with them and I've had nothing but great luck over the past... 6 years or so.
