Very interesting, if not a little funny, that something so simple can be so scholarly. Apples are such an american staple that are so ingrained that you dont even think about it

That was an excellent talk, 👏, I've only recently become interested in American apple history as it explains the gulf between the European and English favourite varieties and the ones most popular in America prior to the supermarket era.

My family claims to have once had a variety of apple called “the Mariner apple”. Possibly in the New England area I would love to find it and grow it again.
