adiabatic is steeper than the isotherm. This steepness is due to the reason that in an adiabatic expansion, the system does work at the cost of its own internal energy. While in an isothermal expansion energy is supplied by the heat reservoir. Also adiabatic process is faster than isothermal process. That is why adiabatic is steeper than an isotherm.
