It was actually super common for figures in old woven tapestries to be portrayed with two of the same hand… it’s kinda like a trademark of the style so I kinda dig it.

I really like TIff's medieval art style. Flawed or not, they're interesting and fun to look at.

Tiffany’s tattoo is done in the style of medieval art and I love that idea. Their depictions of everyday animals were more monstrous and fantastical, which could make some really interesting tattoos.

Same, I love those wacky medieval drawings. tbh the double right hands adds more character in the second one and I feel like some of those drawings were wonky in similar ways sometimes so it fits.
@VitorBosshard6 ай бұрын
Yes! Also, in those times people didn't really understand perspective, so the 2d wonkiness and doubled up right hand are definitely deliberate.

I think Tiffany absolutely nailed that medieval art style and I love it! Agreed on her being the winner this round. I'm a little surprised that there isn't more of a negative on the exact traced tattoos. Copying another artist's tattoo, almost certainly without the permission of the artist or the wearer, feels shady to me to begin with and then they're using that as a portfolio piece?

The one you were talking about needing to work on designs more before skin reminded me so much of someone I knew who bought a kit on Amazon and sought out a teacher, and the TEACHER put this person onto skin from day one! They showed me some of their work, and even I, someone who is not a tattoo artist, could tell these designs were not great. They wanted to do my first tattoo for me and I was like "I'll think about it" and just avoided the topic from thereon out. No thanks!

Hey, Pony: May I critique your Japanese? Your knowledge of Japanese culture (狐, "kitsune", and ダルマ, "darume") is admirable. However, your pronunciation needs a little work. You pronounced the "e" in "kitsune" like the "e" in "Egypt". It should be pronounced like the "e" in "egg". Also, in both words, you put the accent on the second syllable. In fact, there should be little if any accent at all, with maybe an ever-so-slight accent on the first syllable. That said, thank you for including Japanese in your video. And to everyone, please don‘t hate. This is all in good fun and jest. Thank you, Pony, for the cool videos. Greetings from Japan! 🎌🗾⛩️

One of my local shops has an apprentice, with some questionable quality of work, doing coverups and black out tattoos. I understand the apprentice will one day hopefully get better but for her to be doing such work, and it’s poor quality too, I won’t go to that tattoo shop. Her mentor should be saying “you’re not ready for that “. I think it reflects on the shop, not the apprentice. Part of me feels sorry for the person who got the coverup, it is awful, worse than the original tattoo…but then another part of me is like they clearly went to apprentice for the low price and not the quality they need for a coverup so they kind of got what they wanted.

Fun fact for all you learning on KZbin ‘tattooers’ in your private studios…old school artists use to add bs like backward hands or missing pieces to a design to expose self proclaimed artists who just copy what they see n add absolutely nothing to the community. Although that snake fox backward hands design shows promise… it also shows the typical lack of attention allowed nowadays since equipment is so easily assesible. At this pace our careers will be a hobby in kids bedrooms in no time

In medieval art style that was the inspiration for that tattoo, it was a common thing to see characters depicted with two right hands (the left one being considered "bad") and fantastical hybrid creatures. I recommend you google "cats in medieval paintings", it's an entertaining subject. In this case, whether it was an original design inspired by medieval art, or a straight copy from a tapestry or manuscript, I'm pretty sure the original inspiration for this tattoo is in the public domain by now so free for everyone to use or draw inspiration from.
