Wow, I remember watching this 7 years ago when I was a Jetstar engineer. Fast forward to today and I'm now an airline pilot. I'll see me in another 7 years I guess!

hello sir, just wondering did you become airline pilot through flight school ? and in australia do you need to have atpl in order to become a airline pilot ?

I'm A Sydney born living in Adelaide. I used to holiday with relatives, as a young boy, in leichardt. Earliest memories are of watching the Fuselage of Jumbos flying so low i felt i could just about touch them. Now i can see the flight path from Gladeville Bridge, over Leichardt, & on to SYD Airport
@Stan_Humphries11 жыл бұрын
I always approach and touch down with the heels of my feet on the floor so I have good leverage on the rudders. The manual wheel brakes are applied using the top of the rudders with your toes. You don`t want the manual brakes on during touchdown, so heals on the floor is good. I use auto-brakes after touchdown and during the initial roll-out. So when I transition to manual brakes, I guess I grab the glare shield when I lift my feet up to apply manual brakes for the turn off the runway. - Stan

These off-center POV's are better at relaying the real sense of speed of the plane as it's landing. Center mounted cameras create the illusion that the plane the going very slowly. These work better for my eye. Nice vid.

The Captain looks like Malcolm Turnbull!
@MrOgulcan358 жыл бұрын
+Mark Nicol Who is Malcolm Turnbull ? Malcolm Bligh Turnbull (born 24 October 1954) is the 29th and current Prime Minister of Australia. He became prime minister and Leader of the Liberal Party in 2015 and has been the member of parliament for Wentworth since 2004.[2] Turnbull attended Sydney Grammar School before going to the University of Sydney, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. He then attended Brasenose College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar, where he attained a Bachelor of Civil Law. Before entering politics, Turnbull worked as a journalist, lawyer, investment banker and venture capitalist. In 1993, he became the chairman of the Australian Republican Movement, serving in the position until 2000. Briefly Minister for the Environment and Water in the Howard Government in 2007, Turnbull was elected Leader of the Liberal Party in September 2008, becoming Leader of the Opposition. In November 2009, his support for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme proposed by the Rudd Government split the Liberal Party, and in a ballot the following month Turnbull lost the leadership to Tony Abbott by one vote. Initially intending to leave politics, Turnbull remained in parliament and eventually became Minister for Communications in the Abbott Government in September 2013. On 14 September 2015, after consistently poor opinion polling for the government, Turnbull challenged Abbott for the leadership and won the subsequent ballot by 10 votes.[3] He was sworn in as prime minister the following day and formed the Turnbull Government.[4]

10:27 Btw, how do they control the plane movement on land? I thought they use the steering wheel all this long! Is it on auto mode or they use pedals on their foot or what? Somebody tell me please.
@lukemcgraw68067 жыл бұрын
bonhamhensley yes , they have rudder pedals which control the forward wheel of the aircraft and rudder but only on the ground the nose wheel moves.
@virgin7478 Жыл бұрын
No this ist not correct. The pedals are only for the rudder. The Instrument to move the Aircraft on the ground ist not to see from this camera perspective. The Captain use it with his left hand.

You can easily tell its ACA because in the bottom left you see the tail number of C-FIUJ which in google comes up with an Air Canada 777, besides the fact that most (if not all) Canadian aircraft have a "C" and a dash and letters

Good ol AC. great airline used to love the A300-400 via HNL to YVR. Its a long stretch on 777 .
@dafreedomfita8 жыл бұрын
Is this Air Canada 747 or 777? Also you can see Tempe Ikea store at 8:55 right of the runway (yellow/blue building), btw if any of you Sydney plane spotters are interested there is a spot right where the minimums are, it is open to public, that runway is used for bigger international carriers, and if the wind is from the south they land just like that dude did.

Great video. Who is controlling the plane when it taxis off the runway? at 10:30 the plane is turning but neither pilot is steering the plane.
@f6jordan10 жыл бұрын
There is a mechanism out of frame called the tiller which steers the aircraft. Captain has his left hand on it
@hunterfagan627210 жыл бұрын
He is using the rudder which makes the plane yaw, the ailerons make the aircraft roll.
@UnsyNZ10 жыл бұрын
TupolevPilot He is using the tiller.
@hunterfagan627210 жыл бұрын
yeah, thats another way to turn the rudder
@UnsyNZ10 жыл бұрын
TupolevPilot They use the tiller on the ground mostly, because the rudder pedals provide only limited nose wheel authority at low speed. Its used primarily during the takeoff/landing roll to keep straight. The tiller (full NW authority) is used to steer the aircraft on the ground during taxiing.
