Very helpful, thanks! I installed a unit just few month ago to my 2015 X-trail. Everything is working fine, I have only two issues - one is that image from 360/reverse camera is much darker than in original unit and second - for some reason the sound from connected mobile device just stopped playing on the car speakers (e.g. spotify or youtube when played on the phone) few days ago. It was working fine before, bluetooth connection is alive and I can make calls.Also sounds play well from the radio or unit's own youtube/spotify (when I am connected to wifi in my garage). What could be an issue?

Thank you very much for this excellent video which helped me immensely . The Aux L & R out wires were labelled AUX L IN & R IN on the sub loom and AUX L & AUX R on the main loom but other than that the unit was very similar indeed. Could you please tell me if it is possible to set up a bluetooth hotspot from my Iphone to provide working internet whilst away from home. I can link the unit to my home wifi but other than the apps provided on carplay2. I cant seem to get it to share wifi with a phone.?

Thanks. Half the apps you can see me swiping past are apps I installed afterwards. They can be freely removed. I just wanted to show the responsiveness. The system apps can't be removed by dragging to the top. But if you remove system apps like "Color", you will lose that feature, and may struggle to find the program again. So probably better to rearrange and keep your most used apps at front. 👍

Hi there, installed my unit a few weeks ago but having trouble with a couple of niggles if you could help please ? The first is, the car icon that comes on when you first start up and shows the wrong door being open i.e shows passenger not drivers door for right hand drive. The second dislike is the head unit goes off as soon as you have the ignition off unlike the original radio etc. which stayed on until you say opened the driver’s door to exit, which was ideal for listening to the radio with the ignition off if your just sat in the car. Also the original radio would stay on for approx 20 mins before switching. off to save power, you could also restart the radio /display at any time without the ignition on, the sinosmart unit require the ignition on all the time which is a pain when download or playing around with the unit, it would be ideal to have a fix round this if possible.

You can adjust time off by going into settings and adjusting the "sleep time". I think by default you can choose 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days. Basically what this will do is turn the screen and sound off when you turn the ignition off, but leave the device running in the background for however long you set. In that state, boot up will be instantaneous like turning on a tablet. It will only fully power down once the car ignition has been off for the timescale you selected. Just bear in mind that it will be gradually draining the battery so if you don't do a lot of long journeys to counteract that, I'd go with the more conservative setting like an hour or 1 day.

hi ,yes I did this and the head unit does go off when the ignition is switched and will boot up instantly if used again before the timer setting as not expired, but I was hoping for the unit to stay on without the ignition until the door is opened as my factory fitted unit used to do. This was handy when you where just sat in the car for a short while and just listening to say the radio and didn’t want the ignition on. Now with this sinosmart head unit I have to switch on the ignition all the time to use the unit which means everything switched by the ignition is also draining the battery. I did ask sinosmart about this and was told it wasn’t possible because it was a safety issue which I cannot understand the reason why.

@@mauricewal Hi there, when I asked the Question the Sinosmat guys they said it was for safety reasons but I don’t think this is correct, you need to have the engine on to have the head unit operating , not sure which connection you would need to connect too for the power to be permanent ? I find it a pain having the engine on when you want to set up apps etc.

@@mauricewal Overall it's a better unit. Your factory system with Carplay/AA passes the baseline. Just need to consider if the bigger screen and the little extras is worth the money and that's an individual choice. But considering the amount of money out cars worth. The amount of money we spend on phones these days.. yes I'd personally do it for the screen alone.

Not that I know. You can route the simcard holder to the glovebox and you'll be able to swap sim at any time.

You say the tlink app is where to choose between android or CarPlay, does it mean you get to a menu where you can select CarPlay when you have an iphone and just have the regular CarPlay system on the screen right ?

Not using TLink means you're using the android OS on the headunit. TLink is an app you can use which starts Carplay or android auto. This is where your phone pretty much streams content straight to your headunit and you'll have access to select apps directly from your phone.

I have a dasaita model and the main issue I have is that I can’t use CarPlay and wifi at the same time, if I want to use wifi via iPhone I have to disconnect CarPlay. Is this the same as yours or does it work seamlessly, thanks.

That's a great question. Tbh I only have tested carplay briefly, and intend to do separate videos for both later. I mainly just use the device apps, but I definately would be using it (or androidauto) for long journeys. If it's wireless Carplay, I think the app connects the phone and headunit through a direct and private WiFi connection. Maybe you could make a video of what's happening and what you expect and then link it? I'd be happy to test it here this on this unit. Hopefully can help...

Yes, same thing with me. I have the sinosmart in my qashqai. wifi and carplay wireless dont work simultaneously. Its not the fault. its just the way the system works. Best way to use the carplay from USB and then use Wifi.

I have the same issue with Android Auto in my X-Trail. If I use a Bixby routine on my S21, I can put my phone in WIfi Hotspot mode when it detects the car is connected over bluetooth. The issue is the the Wifi gets switched off after using the Tlink app and it doesnt come on automatically so I have to go into settings and switch it on again. Im hoping that an update will come out that if tlink is closed down, it switches Wifi on automatically.

You shouldn't need to, as everything comes working and newer firmwares could be worse in ways. But you can find OTA through the menu and update from there. Remember to keep you car turned off. Any interruption can brick your unit!
