Hi dear. You always amaze us with your wonderful, respectful and informative way... 3 months ago, after I imitated your wonderful work regarding the coolant hose pipe, which was completed successfully... Now I discovered PVC after I opened the oil cap two weeks ago, and I was surprised by a terrifying cracking sound coming from inside the engine. It is only heard when opening the oil cap. There was smoke coming from the hole and much drops of oil being thrown out by the chain through the hole. PVC 2 was emitting smoke and the other was neutral... Yesterday I changed both parts together. After trying to open the oil cap to test, I was surprised by a strong wind that pull the cap off, ( vacuum ) but there was no smoke left coming out anymore, and because of the vacuum the oil was no longer blowing out through the hole... and this is a good thing...( RPM rythm changed when cap open )...except for the strong aspiration, is it normal or is there something wrong... I uploaded a video to my own channel...🥇🏆🎩

Also, can you open the old PCV valves and examine diaphragms?

Another great video. Thank you for your contribution to the macan community. There is something I would like to bring up regarding oil leaks. As you know the main culprit on the macans when it comes to oil leaks is tc bolts. However, I noticed caked oil below 3 of the cam sensors. These are also called vvt solenoids. There are a total of 4 (2 per bank). Apparently the seals on these vvt cam sensors go bad. Is not noticeable since it’s more of seepage not a leak. I went ahead and replaced all 4 seals and cleaned up the caked oil surrounding these sensors. Something to check on your macan.

@@1000raulm Thanks for the suggestion. I did the 2-bolt replacement on TC cover as they were broken and leaking. Will check those and see current state. Thanks again!

Great weekend video/project, Sir. As long as the end game is to prolong the engine, the catch can seems to be doing its job. Great to see you further future-proofing your Macan 👍
@porscheDIY8 ай бұрын
Thanks man! Yes, there is the perennial debate of whether the catch cans serve a purpose. I think they do, or at least they help delay the effects of direct fuel injection engines on inlet valves… Let’s see.

Glad you found it helpful, you'll probably see a few drops of gunk per 10K miles in Florida climate. Not worth it in my opinion.

Would you mind doing an update video after you drive 10k miles? Maybe clean valves before and after catch can over 10k mile period ? It would be a more apples to apples comparison i would think. Your videos are absolutely excellent.

Thanks. That’s an interesting idea. I’ll think about it.

I think I found the answer in the one of your comment reply’s…. Where does the other hose come from? One from the PCV valves on top of valve covers.

@porscheDIY2 ай бұрын
Currently you have two hoses coming from the PCV Valves that connect into a “Y” to a single hose. That single hose then go and connect to the turbo inlets. What you need to do is remove the single hose from that “Y” and then connect it to the outlet of the catch can. Then take a new hose and connect it from the “Y” to the catch can inlet. I hope this makes sense.
@1000raulmАй бұрын
My friend. Is it worth installing a catch can? Without it, where would the oil you collected after 600 miles had ended up?
@porscheDIYАй бұрын
I would recommend only in colder climates. There is no much oil ventilation when temperatures are high, but with colder air, you tend to see more gunk coming out of the PCV Valves. The catch can is meant to collect most of that gunk before is injected back into the combustion chamber via turbines. During Summer, there’s barely enough gunk collected in catch can. But Winter is a different story. Honestly, I don’t think this is a requirement unless you intend to keep your Macan for a long time.

Why didn’t u just change the other hose as well. Looks better too.
@porscheDIY3 ай бұрын
I wanted to demonstrate that you could go back to factory whenever necessary. But I’m planning on doing exactly that. Already have the hose. But I need to remove some additional undercarriage trims to remove hose from turbo inlet… will do this soon.

what does this do?
@porscheDIY8 ай бұрын
When the engine is running, it produces water vapor, mixed with fuel and oil residues that increase the pressure in the crankcase. That pressure needs to be released. In our Macan we have two positive crankcase ventilation valves, one for each side of the V6 engine that release that pressure. By releasing the pressure, it exhaust that water vapor / fuel / oil mix in a form of a mist. In the 70’s and 80’s, engines used to ventilate that mist to the atmosphere. With stronger air emissions regulations, manufacturers started to re-inject this mist into the engine so that it can be burned in the cylinders. This mist travels back to the cylinder, depositing carbon material along the way, but especially on the inlet valves of the cylinders. With port fuel injection engines, new fuel is injected before the inlet valves and had the effect of cleaning the valves and hence this wasn’t an issue. But with the advent of the direct injection engines, now the fuel is injected directly in the cylinder and there is nothing to clean the top of the inlet valves. This could cause severe accumulation of carbon deposits on top of the inlet valves, which in turns decrease engine performance (it could lead to loss in pressure at the cylinder). The catch can is meant to trap that mist (or at least most of it) and prevent it from getting into the engine again. In theory, it keep the top of the inlet valves cleaner for longer.

ok i'm going to have to unsubscribe from ur channel cause i am spending extra $ on mods that i did not know to do, ur costing me $ 😝 now for this mod, do ya think it also works on the 4cyl model? if so, i think you are just going to have to move south so we can just do two at a time.... 🤠

Please… do not unsubscribe. You are one of my favorite subscribers… 😂. Just kidding, I can’t say that when all my subscribers are really my favorite subscribers…. But I do enjoy having you around…. To your question, yes, this is the same for 4-cyl. The clamshell hood and accessories are the same in all Macan variants, and I believe they are the same for all years so far. This is one of the only things that haven’t changed a lot.
