I am listening to Saltatio Mortis for over ten years now and i think it's great that they get more attention outside of Germany now. Although most of their songs are written in german language and the lyrics are very important in most of their songs, they are just great musicians too. They also have a great variety in their sound which goes from metal like riffs and heavy drums to medieval acoustic traditionals, and all of it sounds great. Some recomendations to check out: Wachstum über alles - A song about the capitalistic world where often greed and profit has a higher value than human lives. Dorn im Ohr - The message is that music may not be a solution for most problems in the world but it can draw attention to these problems. Prometheus - Well, it's a song about Prometheus from greek mythology :D (There is also an acoustic live version of this song from their Provocatio show, which i like very much) Loki - Again just a song about this nordic god. They also uploaded their show at Wacken 2017 song by song on their YT channel, which is also full of good songs, if you want to watch a live performance.

Listening to Saltatio Mortis for over 15 years now (17, I believe). They changed a lot since their beginning. Started out as a pure medieval market and street band, they had several releases in that area, then more into EBM (album: Das zweite Gesicht) before becoming more and more of a medieval rock/metal band (Des Königs Henker, Aus der Asche,...) becoming heavier ( Das Schwarze IxI) until the most recent, social critic albums with influences of punk, rap,... (Zirkus Zeitgeist, Brot und Spiele, Für immer Frei) You can really find everything you like with that band. If you're down with something into some crossover check out: "Mittelfinger Richtung Zukunft"

Oh man, that cover CD is so good. There are also other videos for you to check out: Epica did a fabulous cover of "Sacred and Wild", Eluveitie turned "Ira Sancti (When the Saints are going wild)" into a trademark Eluveitie song and I hold a special place in my heart for Kissin Dynamites' "Let there be Night", since they opened for PW at my venue and Hannes came out to sing that song with them together. Also: Caliban, Battle Beast, Heaven Shall Burn, Kadaver, Amaranthe and, of all human beings, Mille Petrozza from Kreator contributed to what is probably one of the best cover albums of all times.

SaMo (SaMo is a German Shortname for Saltatio Mortis) are one of the best german Medieval Rock Bands. They've many very good Songs. Fun Fact: The Stage in the Video is from the Saarland. My Homeland in Germany ;)

since saltatio mortis nearly didnt exists for not only this song Prometheus and the album Aus der Asche (Out of the Ash) i would recommend looking at this song first! they had many problems at the time and were close to giving up the band and this album is in a sense the phoenix that ignited the band again! Otherwise a good other song would be Wo sind die Clowns(Where are the Clowns) a song about them asking where all the fun is gone and that there are no good news anymore! only about death war and hunger!

Good cover, and great reaction. I only wish they'd made it a bit more in their own style, while this one sounds a bit too much like the original. I also recognized Jörg/Alea from somewhere the first moment I first saw him in this band. Still can't figure out from where - except he's popping up in quite a few music videos by other German bands -, but I really can't see any likeness to Val Kilmer. : ) He's doing some cool cosplays as well, and his training in martial arts goes well with the setting in this video.
