this is my discovery of the year. I found out about this band a few months by chance and have been listening non stop, and actually am sort of sad that I didn't know about them before... they have nearly everything I love in a black metal band.

The Intro was from Marlen Haushofer's Book "Die Wand"......the whole Album was inspired by Hermann Hesse's Book "Der Steppenwolf".....

Dude, that's scary. I wrote an english translation to this song like ~a month ago from the top of my head and ours are very, very similar. There are a few differences though, but I think that both are still spot on in their own way. Cheers!

For me the the drums was too dominant, sometimes really annoying and although I'm German, I have the text almost not understood. But the guitars were just awesome wow. Always interesting, what you set here, nice mix 👍

The weird thing is that it's not just 'the way of freedom', it's 'the way of a freedom'. Even as a german, it makes you scratch your head a bit... I suppose they mean it in a philosophical way, at least that's my interpreation. 'Freedom' can mean different things to different people, therefore it's not the same to everyone and even to oneself, the definition and understanding of freedom may change over the years of your life.

Should give Fates Warning a listen sometime. They're like a Queensryche/Maiden cross from the same era, with some Metallica style riffs here and there. And their first vocalist John Arch is a beast, with a very similar if not identical range as Geoff Tate. Their song "The Apparition" is their biggest hit, but overall they're pretty underground. Orphan Gypsy, The Apparition, and The Sorceress are probably my top 3. The Apparition is probably the best reaction material. It's very musically interesting in the arrangement and lyrics department.

The lyrics in your video description are wrong, by the way. I don't know where you got them from, but f.e. in the very first line, it should be: "Ich weiß nicht, warum ich das tue". Second line should be "Es ist fast ein innerer Zwang, der mich dazu treibt". This goes on and on. Some of the lines are actually correct, but a lot of them are not. Just thought I should point it out!
