On the tree to be propagated, choose a vigorous and perfectly healthy branch of the year, then:
About 8 inches from the end of this twig, look for a leaf bud (the leaves are starting to develop).
About 2 cm under this bud, place a tourniquet by enclosing the twig with a copper wire tie: do not tighten much, you must avoid damaging the bark.
Leave this tourniquet in place for 15 days: it blocks the descending sap, which runs just under the bark, and thus promotes the concentration of auxin (a hormone that promotes the emission of roots) at the site of the withers.

Take and prepare the apricot cutting
To take the cutting, proceed as follows:
After 15 days, cut the twig under the withers with pruning shears.
Using a grafter or a sharp, previously disinfected knife, cut the bottom of the cutting by making a clean cut between the withers and the leaf bud.
Keep only the leaves at the top of the twig and remove the others to prevent dehydration of the cutting.
Note: put the odds on your side by removing the twig early in the morning, when it has a good supply of water.
GRAFTING
Graft the apricot tree at the right time. Practice apricot crest grafting in summer, July-August.
Choose a rootstock tree.
Prepare and incise the rootstock.
Collect the graft as an escutcheon.
Insert the scion onto the rootstock.
Watch the grafting of your apricot tree.
