April 11th, 2022 Pulaski County Tornado Emergency

KATV tornado coverage of a tornado warned supercell moving through Faulkner, Pulaski, and Lonoke counties on the evening of April 11th, 2022. As the storm entered Pulaski county, a tornado emergency was issued as a confirmed tornado approached highly populated areas. The storm produced an EF1 tornado south of Hwy 89 in Faulkner county into the wooded areas of Camp Robinson and lifted near Batesville Pike Rd. Wind and hail damage was found from Jacksonville into Cabot.

"Cato" Tornado: Started at 8:07 PM CDT in Faulkner County, AR. It travelled E/SE and lifted at 8:18 PM CDT near the intersection of Batesville Pike and Fortson Road in Pulaski County, AR. -Rating: EF1 (90mph peak wind) -Width: 100 yards -Length: 7.7 miles No other official tornado recorded after the above tornado.

I was operating a camera outside at Dickey Stephen's Park with the sirens going off thinking, "Surely they'll cancel the game at any second." They kept playing, I guess because they didn't want to release a lot of people into the storm.

It always bugs me when TV stations put up a radar legend that is a completely different color pallet from the actual colors they use for reflectivity. In this case the legend is the original NWS colors while they are actually using standard Baron colors. Same goes for the computer model presentations. Stations will use the old WSI colors for the model data while using a different pallet for the actual live radar product. Like do the people in charge of these things not realize how aesthetically ugly and inconsistent that looks? If I were the chief meteorologist at a TV station I'd make sure everything is uniform. No mix matching.
