April 2022 | Our 2nd season no dig market garden and food forest

It's nearly May and the garden is starting to go absolutely baloobas! All of the plans I talked about back in February are on track with the new polytunnel in position, new beds created and the crop plan saving tonnes of time. We have now had our shop/farm stand open for 2 weeks and it's feeling like the 2022 season is well underway.
In this video I give a detailed tour of the greenhouse nursery, our wildlife and herb gardens, small market garden, food forest and out farm.

I'm hoping that it won't be so much of a problem mid summer and in winter. April is just so tricky with some hot days and freezing nights...

Hi Shane. How long do you leave the black tarp down before creating the new beds ?

Hi Jon, 6-9 months seems to be enough to get rid of most things. If you have bindweed it may need to be longer though to completely eradicate it.

I remember Geoff Lawton mentioning that thistles could be a sign of copper deficiency in the ground. Maybe worth to research

Do you get Kiwis from your vine?

It's only 1 year old but it's very happy where it is with lots of warmth from the wall behind it so I am hoping to have kiwis in 2-3 years time, If not sooner. The variety is Del Solissimo.
