Take a minute to peek into the work over the month.
Exciting news of the month was the newest addition to Buffalo Kloof - Khatu’s fourth litter, sired by the male relocated via the Ashia team last year. These adorable little fluff balls have already captured many hearts and we’re really looking forward to watching how they grow and take their mother’s lead.
Some of the ACC team travelled to various locations, either for cheetah movements, or to check out reserves for potential cheetah habitat. Along with space suitable for cheetah, there were some wonderful sightings of the different wildlife species inhabiting those luscious landscapes.
At the Center in Paarl, alongside routine animal care, the staff, interns and volunteers were all focused on finishing the new quarantine area - specially designed as a temporary space for new arrivals to Ashia, helping them settle within the first few days.
Plans are drawn up for the next two cheetahs to leave Ashia in the coming weeks. They’ve had quite a journey so far, and we can’t wait to take them to what will be the last phase of their wilding before final future release. Watch this space…
