April 2024 Reaction to the UN-Banlist WTF Konami (Stream highlight)

I understand why Konami chose not to hit the top tier meta decks because I feel like the top tier decks are still too new to be hit. If you look at the decks that top-cut, you'll see an influx of Battle Chronicle, Tech Genus, Sky Striker, Red-Eyes Zombie Reborn, Shiranui, etc. Because so many diverse decks top-cut, Konami didn't know how to best hit these decks so they took the latter approach by basically mass unbanning a lot of rogue decks that weren't performing so well to raise their power level just to collect more data and see if these rogue decks, with their increased power level, can compete with the meta decks. After Konami gathers more data to see how these now unbanned rogue decks are holding their own, then they will consider nerfing the top tier decks if they're still a problem. That being said, I am still a bit upset that Battle Chronicle didn't get the nerf that it so rightfully deserved. Everyone hates that deck because it's toxic searching Successor Soul removal like that and ending on 2 to 3 backrow turn one easily. Tech Genus is still as toxic as ever and they can end on Herald of the Arc Light + Halberd Cannon pass, which is an unbreakable board. Sky Strikers are still cancer. And the main elephant in the room, Red-Eyes Zombie Reborn somehow dodged the banlist even though that deck is cancer and basically the Infernity deck of 2024. I'm honestly surprised that in Zombie decks, Mezuki and Burial from a Different Dimension both remained untouched, as being able to proc up to 9 Mezuki effects on your turn if you opened well is insanely toxic. I'm not happy I have to deal with another two months of Red-Eyes Zombie Reborn being at full power, but I guess it is what it is. The deck is still too new to warrant a ban anyway. You know me Schwi, once I saw that Altergeist Meluseek was free from limit three jail (I knew they'd unban it), I was ecstatic and jumping for joy. The current meta is not very Altergeist friendly and as long as Red-Eyes Zombie, Photons, Tech Genus, and Sky Strikers remain at full power, Altergeists have really had it rough in terms of good matchups. Allowing access to broken limit 3 backrow in Altergeists will definitely make them a menace and it's going to be toxic having to deal with Altergeists having Compulsory Evacuation Device, but hey I'm all for my Altergeist deck getting the limit 3 backrow that it rightfully deserves. I always thought it was super unfair how Meluseek came pre-banned to limit 3, but I guess it makes sense if Konami wanted to test the waters a bit by not allowing a Trap deck access to the best traps in the game, then once they saw that Altergeists were not doing anything, the deck was buffed over time. Now, Altergeists are basically at full power barring Personal Spoofing being at limit 2, which is fine because we Altergeist players deserve to play our deck at full power since the deck came pre-banned on release and thus robbed us of the opportunity to experience the deck at full power without it being pre-banned and feeling not as good as it should be. I'll definitely be streaming some Altergeist content for ya once the new April 2024 banlist, or rather the unbanlist, goes live so stay tuned!
