What a great setup for growing Brian. Interesting about the sweet potatoes 🍠

I never had slips grow so fast. Not sure if it was the heat matt, the uncured sweet potatoes or a combination of both.. Just trying to keep everything alive at this point, just a few more plants to get started. Thanks for watching Rick! Stay Well!!!

Have a couple more coming up, a 3 month update on my CFT worm bin and how I terminated my clover cover crop in my potato bed. Thank you for your support! Stay Well!!!

I love those little skewer sticks, Brian! They are handy for picking up worms that drop on the floor as well. ~ Sandra

I use the skewers a lot with my clumsy hands. I need to have some down in the basement by the worm bins, great idea. Stay Well!!!

Yes, my MS fingers are trembly and drop things all the time. I carry around a pair of kitchen tongs to help me pick things up that roll under tables, etc.! We have to get creative… ~ Sandra

Beautiful setup... almost Lablike :) Greetings from germany!

It has been a work in progress over the last 5 years. I try to keep it clean, last year had a terrible outbreak of aphids. Need to do better with the types of lights next year. My grandfather immigrated from Germany around 1912, forget the name of the town he was from. My brother actually found the home my grandfather grew up in when he was in Europe some years ago. Thanks for stopping by! Stay Well!!!

Wow, you have lots started! I notice you have some of those Boot Strap Farmer trays, I’m thinking of buying some of those, how are they working for you? You have so many different types of tomatoes starting, I just have three Picus, Plum Regal, and Sakura. Klaus

The boot farmer trays and the air-prune 72 cell trays are awesome, highly recommend, no more cheap floppy trays for me, greenhouse megastore has good trays also. I start a lot of plants for friends and neighbors, donate to school or VA garden programs too. Actually I have room for only about 18 tomato plants, might stick a few extras in grow bags this year. Thanks for watching! Stay Well!!!

great idea using your old blinds.... i need to be more organized with my garden. Your plants are coming along nicely. Hopefully this year is a great growing year for everyone.
@brianseybert1926 ай бұрын
Thanks for that Mikko! Have no idea why I just didn't toss the blinds, glad I didn't. Even if you do not have horizontal blinds that need replacing, Wall Mart sells them for around 5 bucks, still a lot cheaper than buying plant tags. Planting celery, lettuce, spinach and some pre germinated seeds out in the garden today, a lot sooner than most years. Actually I am not that organized, it always seems like I need to be catching up, lol. I do not let it bother me, I get done what I can when I can. Stay Well!!!

You reminded me that I need to get my sweet potato slips started. 😅 The plants you have started look good. You have more started than I do.

Plenty time for the sweet potatoes, heat matt really gets em going. No disasters like last years aphid infestation, need to get better lighting, still getting leggy plants. Planting my celery, some spinach, lettuce and some pre germinated peas, morning glories and safflower today, weather looks good. Solarizing the cover crop of clover in the potato bed, hopefully can get the tatters in the ground next week. Thanks for stopping by! Stay Well!!!!

@@brianseybert192 I transplanted the snow peas into the garden yesterday since the weather forecast looked good. Need to get the broccoli transplanted next.

Thank you for sharing. You are well organized and it is inspiring. How long can you keep the worm tea/extract before it goes anaerobic?
@brianseybert1926 ай бұрын
I usually use it all up, then return the casting or compost to the worm bin. When I make aerated teas, I definitely use it all, to get the most out of the microbial life. I would not let it go for more than a few days, microbes are very sensitive to uv light, and without a food source will die off quickly. I think it would take a week to 10 days for it to go anaerobic. That would be a interesting experiment, make a batch and see how long it takes for everything to die off. That is why I am leery of "worm teas" that are sold, snake oil in my opinion. I got sloppy last year and ended up with a devastating aphid infestation, made a point to keep things a bit tidier. No matter how hard I try to keep up with things it always seems like I am a step behind, lol. Thanks for watching and your kind comments! Stay Well!!!

Much better than when I started out in my cold basement 5 years ago, kinda hard to grow tomatoes and peppers in a 50F basement without a heat Matt. Always tweaking things, next year will be better lighting. Thanks again for watching, Stay Well!!!

Pot up a few of those rooted "chits" and put them out this spring. 🫱🏼🫲🏾

I was flipping through the worm bin yesterday and I had the same thought, I have a bunch, cool to see the roots developing. I will stick some in a root pouch and see what happens. Thanks for watching! Stay Well!!!
