I had the same issue in Navarra, Spain. Came down a mountain road. Went to stop at a junction at the bottom, had no rear brake, got to campsite, set up tent, went out to a petrol station and bought some brake fluid, bled the rear brake caliper and basically flushed the new fluid through and it was good for the rest of the trip, all the way back through France. Had another problem on the way to Cumbria where the rear brake started dragging on the disc and got really hot. I then opened the bleed nipple and levered the pads off the disc and carried on the rest of the way without the rear brake.

DOT5.1 worked for me Pat. Happened twice in the first year of living in Italy, never again after swapping to 5.1 ...... changed yearly.

Thanks Karl already swapped it to dot 5.1. It was hot one day we had a riding ambient of 37 degrees celcuis, the bike performed well.

Hi, this is a known issue with the capo, change the pomp for the aprilia mana/shiver one and 5.1 to solve the issue for good ;)

Go dot 5.1 ( has a higher boiling point ) but also could be too much fluid in the reservoir ? But its the calliper you need to water ! are you using HH pads they generate too much heat on these bikes . Kudos to you for getting to Portugal .

You may be right about a little too much fluid and not enough expansion I swapped the pads the other month when I went to Italy and didn't have much material left on them the pads are sbs not sure if there HH. Just removed a small amount of fluid it was nearer the max it's now in the middle see how it holds up today only got four and half hours fully loaded off mountain roads down to Porto area 😂.
