I think the most underrated thing about Aprilias are how much better their mirrors are than everyone else's.
@alexo9jm2 жыл бұрын
You're so right about sound being integral to the enjoyment of your bike. I bought a ninja 400 back in 2018 and whilst the ride was great the sound just never made me feel alive even with an akra can. Last year 2021 I bought an Aprilia RS660 and despite both bikes being parallel twins the fact the RS660 is a bigger engine and 270 crank it just sounds incredible. Even the stock exhaust blows the ninja out of the park. I now have a full system underslung Mivv for it and it sounds unbelievable for a twin. The induction sound is fantastic as well. I still have the 400 for commuting as I am all bike but on the weekend the Aprilia always gets chosen now. I have owned an electric push bike since 2016 but couldn't see myself on a bigger electric bike unless I had to be. Sound really is king for me.
@Kristofferheihei2 жыл бұрын
How loud is the mivv compared to stock? I have a tuono 660 factory (exact same engine as yours). I think the stock exhaust is fairly loud. Certainly makes a good sound, and it's as loud as the Fireblade i just had
@alexo9jm2 жыл бұрын
@@Kristofferheihei The Mivv with the optional cat (goes inside can you cannot see it fitted) and outer baffle is louder than stock exhaust. Not by a staggering amount but louder. For me it is enough I have not tried without the baffle or cat yet. You get a deeper engine sound even with the cat and baffle fitted.
@alexo9jm2 жыл бұрын
@@herniket I haven't had it tuned yet but ideally you should. I know from others with the underslung mivv that without the cat and baffle it will pop and bang repeatedly on deceleration without a tune. Basically it runs way too lean. With the cat and baffle it does not pop and bang at all but you should still get it tuned if you can.
@iTxip2 жыл бұрын
@@herniket if you run the exhaust with cat you dont really need to tune. Its when you go full de-cat exhaust when you need to worry about tuning

We’ll you’ve just confirmed why I’ve just sold my Aprilia Factory Tuono. It just encourages you to let rip. It came with the acropovic end can and sounded awesome (2018 model) only 1 speeding ticket, but it was only a matter of time before more would follow, either that or a bad crash. At 65, nothing looks worse than a coffin dodger on a hyper bike, so I’ve bought a new NC 750 X, you know what ? I like it. Head said Honda, heart said Aprilia, Don’t tell anybody, but I think I just grew up!

I used to have the 2017 RF and I miss it so much, especially the sound. It was a bit too mad for the roads around here and a bit miserable doing the winter commute on it. But yeah, the '09 325i I replaced it with for a warmer and comfier commute will never give me even 10% of the smiles I got from it. I doubt i'll ever be in the position to own/afford something like it again but i'm just pleased I got to experience it for a couple of years.

I agree ... What a symphony of sound! My favourite was the Norton TT, which of course used your same Aprilia engine a few years ago, and whatever exhaust they'd made for it - by jeez, you could hear it miles away coming around the course. Amazing. It's great to see how a sound can make so many people smile as it zoomed past. My other favourite is the R1 and it's crossplane crank, a very strong thrumming sound..

Thank you for the ride. Lovely bike. It sounded as if you said no 'blippers'. I have a '13 Factory and it has upshift only...so I would think yours would at least have that if not also downshift. You are correct. Most entertaining fun. All I've done to mine was change the 16 to a 15...need that for any kind of stop and go riding. I rode mine to work until retiring 2 years ago. Also put a full Akrapovic exhaust...and frame/axle sliders. No point in upgrading for more power when this one can still make me smile anytime I feel like it.

Disappointment at not sharing your vulnerable side compensated by the V4 through that Arrow trumpet 🎺, what a fantastic sound. BMEP aim that engine is off the scale; brake mean effective pressure, which is why it is such a great motor. (LJK Setright CAR magazine from 1980’s to read about BMEP).

I really want one of these bikes, but the highest speed you can go where I live is 80km/h :( So I sold my Fireblade as 1000cc bikes just didn't make any sense. Jail time comes to Quick. Bought the new Tuono 660 factory. At least I'm well in to 3rd gear on that at the same speed that the Fireblade finished 1st gear. Honestly the Tuono is just the most fun I've had on a bike. Also the engine sounds great. I want a V4 but I have nowhere to use the power, nearest track is an 8 hour+ drive away. I've come to the conclusion that the Tuono 660 Factory must be the best road bike I can have overall. For me at least :) Keep up the good work Chris 👍 really nice bike
