Very informative. Though a military re-enactor, the presentation provides civilian insight into the garment, and its use as both functional apparel and symbol of status.

Did you say the patterns can be purchased? I have my own developing You Tube channel as a sewist. A few Victorian type projects so far, but my channel is in its infancy.... not much for you to check there yet..... and..... I have no explanation for having been "bit" by the Civil War bug, as I am Canadian... but it's just such a fascinating time in history, and has so many far reaching threads into our times..... and the fashions. I just like them. Not sure if I need a reason why. But if the patterns are for purchase, that have been developed, I would be interested. Thanks. I have subcribed and turned on notifications.
