Mixed feelings about this video lol. 1- two Mac users, one that loves APRS and one that hates it. 2- gosh, you told Mike he wont have coverage, that's more fuel for him, I can expect his 80th APRS hating video coming up soon. Love both of you, thanks for this very informative video, VIVA APRS!!!!

Yeah Mike, put up a digipeater! You know you want to! You'll be providing a valuable service to your poorly served area!!

I'd pitch in a few bucks if Mike started a GiveSendGo campaign for the effort.

Will K8MRD accept the challenge to set up a digipeater? We shall see! This is great. I had no idea I could use APRS for this. Thanks!

I might have to drive to TX to get that digipeater on the air 😂

Hey Jason, this is exactly what I have been looking for,especially the map trick! I seem to be in an area where it's really hard to hit a digi with a 5w HT. Thanks for the video 73 Mike N2HTT

Two less than $200.00 radios will let you type APRS messages on your cell phone and transfer the message by Bluetooth. They are the VGC VR-N76 or the Radioditty GA-5WB.

I commented on Mike’s video and it seems like it is worth noting here as well. HF APRS should be an option. iGates are on HF, and you should be able to route to APPOTA. l hear APRS on 30m across the country. I don’t know about Huntsville, but maybe someone near there can give it a listen.
@KM4ACK3 ай бұрын
@@kenchilton I explored HF APRS several years ago and did a video. Might be worth checking it out again. Thanks for the reminder.

Shouldnt the frequency be in kcs? (Not MHz)? (I really find your KZbins useful!)
@KM4ACK3 ай бұрын
I keyed it in as MHz and it worked. Maybe the spotting service is converting before posting the spot to POTA page? Not sure

Seems like I saw something re JS8CALL version ? Somewhere ? I'm getting questions because I know some avid POTA people. One just asked me and I gave him a link to this video but I don't have the JS8 infor although I believe I've seen it somewhere ? I really should be an avid POTA person but I'm so busy right now getting a bunch of high elevation repeaters ready for winter, not to mention my little farm I can't take the time just now. I have spotted people from our group though, lots of places with spotty cell coverage and almost no APRS.
