Today I cardfight with Kevin of Bushiroad and try out a bunch of new cards from BT03 Advance of intertwined Stars! We get to see Kevin's new Greedon deck against my Vairina Exspecta!

Gotta say, it is nice to see outreach like this from Bushiroad’s English division to get people into the game. They’ve really turned things around from the old days and I can only hope they’ll do the same promotion for Weiss as well, especially with all the English exclusive sets they’ve been developing.

I actually haven't played Vanguard since the generation stride era, when gear chronicle clan was intro., so seeing you guys play this brings back some good memories. Hopefully this could be a new thing to introduce to your vids. Can't wait to see potentially some more Edit: After watching the game, I can see alot has changed since I last played this game. Very grateful though for the "RIde" Deck. Cause bricking was never fun.

I've played Vanguard since the limit break era and I've only ever been grade locked once or twice. Sure, maybe I didn't get the best grade 2 or 3 to ride on the VC but I was very rarely ever locked.

The ride deck was a very welcomed addition to the game TBH

Another issue that the ride deck fixes is that before deck building was very rigid due to needing to run a certain specific ratios of G1s, G2s, and G3s to secure having each in your opening hand, now that you don't have to worry about that anymore decks can have very wacky ratios, for example there's a deck called Bastion which runs more than 24 G3s and not a single G2 in the entire main deck; before that was straight up impossible but thanks to the ride deck now you can do that without getting grade stuck every game. Heck the added consistency and opened freedom in deck building even meant they were able to add Spell cards into the game and they work pretty well.

I loved how Vanguard was anime that was just about card playing at first and not trying to be Yugioh in the slightest. TuT Hated how it pretty much had that moment of "Now I shall surpass you by becoming what even you wouldn't do!" and falling on it's face from it. Okay I got my angst out of the way let's talk bout how THRILLING that game was! I've played Vanguard Zero and I had fun for a few years before they introduced Lock making the game more about control than actually interacting, which don't get me wrong most TCG do get here eventually, I got a little less into it. Then we got Leggy--On! Era which revitalized me and again it got a little dull and we finally got Generation Stride which also saw Zero getting a smooth update too. Twas awesome...but it seems my friend Greg was right in saying nothing compares to the TCG. That was more thrilling than all the eras I've seen so far! Thanks for making the video guys!

they forgot to mention that you shuffle the deck after drawing for the mulligan. (put mulligan'd cards on bottom, draw that many, then SHUFFLE the deck)

It's always good to see different card games, especially one that has more control. There are 3 primary formats, the one they play in this video which is also the main format that gets the most regular support is easily the most affordable one too.

@@jeffnicholas4068 Yep, since Overdress just started this year it is pretty easy to get into, there's only 3 core sets you need to dig for. V Series is a little tricky since you need to dig a few old cards but the V Collection sets certainly make it easier to get most of a deck core fairly easy. Premium however is the least accessible and definitely the most expensive so not recommended for newcomers.

The downside of Greedon is you basically only get to attack with him, since he has to eat standing units meaning you cannot attack with anything else. Greedon is basically a "one-man-army" type of deck.

Greedon is a C-B level deck. There are far better decks.

@@idonotmakevidsyet Yeah Greedon tends to run out of steam because he needs to keep eating 4 cards each turn but only gives you two additional cards for restanding, on top of the cards you'll have to use to guard the opponent's turn. It's pretty common for Greedon to run into situations where you don't have enough card advantage to call 4 rearguards for Greedon to eat. Greedon's main weakness ends up being his own greed & gluttony, ironically and funny enough:p Though the new support from DBT04 looks like it'll go a long way to make him more consistent.

Isn't. Greedon runs out of steam quickly due to needing to eat 4 rearguards and only getting 2 extra drive normally making him a hard -2 every turn. The newer support in DBT04 does look like it'll make Greedon more consistent but that's coming until February.

@@AB-J The problem with Greedon is that you need to keep eating 4 rearguards every turn which is a very hefty cost to pay and when your opponent makes you use up your entire hand to guard their battle phase you often find yourself unable to setup 4 more rearguards to eat the following turn. You also tend to burn through the deck VERY quickly especially if you run Draws so the opponent only needs to survive 2 or 3 turns of Greedon before he decks out, which isn't that hard given that Perfect Guards shut down one of his attacks very easily. Most players counter Greedon by playing more defensively in the early games so they're at low damage when Greedon shows up meaning they can safely take some of the attacks and/or by saving up their Perfect Guards for the turns when Greedon gets really big. The new support mainly allows the deck to call more fodder rearguards via card effects more consistently so the issue of not having enough card advantage to feed Greedon is mostly solved, though the deckout and Perfect Guard problems are still present.
