Apsan is underrated!

According to the tier lists I've found, Apsan is a measly B+ overall. And an A- for Early game players.
Let’s see what this list has to say about him.
Awkward and underwhelming. Unfortunately for Apsan most Airborne focused content has very few ground platforms, making him difficult to use to full effect. He is also very dependent on having a Piercer lord due to his relatively short attack range for an anti-air focused hero.
Ouch. That is completely unfair and not even close to how versatile he is for new players.
For early players Apsan is absolutely an S+. Let’s look at why.-
First off he’s melee with an extended range. So he can do things many melee heroes cannot. Things like kill the boss before it even reaches you.
He can also stand behind a defender for even more survivability and extra DPS when there aren't enough tiles.
He has an anti-air bonus. Making him fantastic in gear raid III, and a great addition for anti-air teams. He does more damage than my marksman.
He hits multiple targets. Making him great for quasi AOE.
To show how versatile he is, let’s see how he does in each mode
In gear raid I.
I don’t have a lot of good AOE mages, so he still does really well. The fact that his range is so big, and he’s hitting all targets in a line, means he’s really pulling his weight when I don’t have better units. So he definitely drops off at later levels, but in early game? Still fantastic.
In Gear Raid 2. Despite not being a defender, his survivability is just fine. And with that range, he’s attacking the boss long before the boss gets to the front line. When this tile is removed in later levels, he’s not as useful. But we’ve cleared 12 raids with him. If that doesn’t count as “early” I don’t know what does.
Mabucket realizes his potential in gear raid 3, and gives him an A+ for this fight. His best score for any mode. And I probably agree with that. I am definitely the furthest in gear raid 3 than the other two. He again out damages all of my other marksman.
What about guild boss? Top damage.
Single target arena? Top damage.
AOE arena? Top damage until I pulled Vierna. But he’s still my chosen “tank” for this fight.
Air arena? Top damage.
Artifact raid? Beast! Controls his own lane, and is easily the best damage on the boss.
Gold raid?
EXP raid? Great choice until you get better units.
Faction trial? Controlling his lane and kicking butt while doing so.
Promotion raids?
Marksman - look at this! Extreme 2, he’s just kicking butt out here while the rest of the marksman are cleaning up the trash. How good is he? I’m in the top 10 teams on my server. With much less BP than them…
Mages - Don’t need a tank for this fight
Endurance - Up until extreme 2 he was a rockstar. He could tank as well as anyone and could kill multiple lanes. The rest was just the healers keeping up. It wasn’t until extreme 2 that he needed to step out of the spotlight. And that was ONLY because fighters stop 2 monsters in the path while defenders can stop 3.
I’ll be making a video about this fight to show how crazy it was, but you can still see him as an important part of the team.
Melee - Do I need to say it? The ability to hit all enemies in the lane is monstrous. He leads the team in DPS every single time. I’m pretty sure he will still be a star of this fight by the time I hit extreme 2, even if a stronger fighter takes his place as the spotlight.
Campaign - For every single fight since I pulled him, he is my main tank and often the best DPS. He’s still my best unit on hard chapter 7. Still being used on expert 1. And carried me the entire time through normal.
I use him in virtually every fight in this game where allowed. And he pulls his weight every single time.
Will I replace him in some of these fights when I pull an S tier unit for that fight? Of course.
But is he still the best unit I have? By a long shot. Not because he’s S tier in every mode, but because he’s not bad in any of them. He’s a jack of all trades and a master of some.
Mabucket? I think you need to reconsider Apsan’s Early game rating. If he isn’t an S+ tier for early game - I don’t know what is!

Hey mate, great that you're covering him - lots of players will pull him and this will help showcase his utility :) I just have a few minor qualms: - 2:16 you say "he outdamages my other marksman", but he appears to deal less than half the damage of your 5* Tauriel (and is close to the 5* Theowin) - In your Guild Boss clip he beats your Wrath and Tauriel, but both are only at 5* (Wrath would massacre Apsan in equal gear/level) - In Single-target Arena your 6* Apsan loses to the 4* Rare - You're comparing him to 5* epic heroes, and we can't see his gear/skill-ups in comparison to the heroes he's being compared to But in general I do agree, Apsan is a solid overall unit - ranged Fighters are really versatile and useful in a lot of content. My tier list is definitely not perfect and I appreciate feedback, I'll upgrade his early-game rating as I do think he is a better starting hero than I gave him credit. Thanks mate! :)

I had captions for some of these, but I can recap below. Gear raid 3 - unfortunately I didn't record footage of that gear raid 3 before I beat it, so with power of dominance active, a lot of stuff died faster before it got into range for Apsan. So in the auto-fight he did a lot less damage. Guild Boss - You are correct on star priority and gear priority. Apsan has better gear than both of them. After maxing Apsan out, I've been focusing on Wrath, so I look forward to seeing his new damage in guild boss. Single target arena - He was my main DPS until I found out about Cuke. The audio was already recorded so I just put a caption up instead. Gear - Apsan definitely has the better gear, but Tauriel's isn't bad. But you are correct I never showed their gear. I'll rectify that in future videos. For stars and promotions, as free to play I focused on what I thought would help me the most, and since he's so versatile, I focused on him. My other units are starting to catch up with the new Corridor of Glory event, so we'll see what happens as they become closer in battle power etc. One thing I wasn't able to compare him to is Arrogance. From what I understand, Arrogance is better in almost every way. So if I think Apsan is S tier material for Early game, I would love to see what that means for Arrogance! I appreciate the feedback and hopefully will see him get a bump in early game rating on your site. ;) Cheers!

@@KicksGaming1 Ooh that's what you meant, I misinterpereted the GR3 text - my bad! Yeah Arrogance is honestly one of the reasons it's so hard to give Apsan a fair shake, having Zilitu and especially Arrogance in mind it's hard to be unbiased when looking at Apsan. Apsan will be a bit better in Anti-Air content, but I really think he depends on having a Piercer lord in order to do so - mainly because when Arrogance/Zilitu have their ultimates active they have long periods of better attack range (the corners). I've upped him to S- for now, I'll have another poke around and maybe revise all of his ratings when I get the chance. Great video mate :)

No disrespect to MaBucket, but I've found that his tier list should be taken with a "grain of salt" and used only as a baseline guide. Like many content creators, he has a bit of an elitist view and only values the top tier heroes while dismissing many on the others as trash or not worth having, in my opinion, for what that's worth

No lol, unfortunately it's not f2p friendly. You will definitely feel the urge to open your wallet. But if you ignore the rat race of trying to be number 1, you can still have a lot of fun just going at your own pace. I'm still f2p and am making great progress. I'm trying to make a does it kick video for this one so hopefully that'll give more information. The tower defense part is a lot of fun though if you're into that. Figuring out the right strategy is super fun and rewarding when you figure it out!

Sorry, dude, but no. He's absolutely trash. I've given him my best gear and put him in stage 20 gear raid 3, put him down first and Silus next to him 12 seconds later. Silus kills both of his mobs while Aspan is still struggling to kill the only mob he can even reach, and then he dies to that mob, and that's with Aracha and no Vierra. Don't encourage early game players to waste precious resources on such a bad hero, if you want a melee to sit behind a tank, there are dozens of better champions, even epics.

@KicksGaming1 nobody is in the early game long enough to justify taking Asspan to 6 star, especially when there are epics that do the job much better and can take you further. The early game is where you have to choose carefully which heroes you invest in, and if people take your advice, they'll end up being disappointed very quickly. You also need to show us what gear you've put on a hero and compare it to how you've geared the rest of your team.

I use traditional DPS gear, ideally with a little more defense and HP if you're using him to tank. For artifact I use the one that has a 10% chance for an additional attack because every 3 throws, he does his special piercing attack.
