Sir, the actual definition of lag time is the distance between the centre of mass of rainfall and the centre of mass of hydrograph.

At 13:41 according to you if the size of the basin is small the water will quickly reach the outlet point resulting in lower peak but after that in slope of basin if the slope is higher the water will reach the outlet quickly resulting in higher peak.. sir can you elaborate these two statement? What you actually want to say?
@pastinvictor7116
@pastinvictor7116 4 жыл бұрын
Assume 2 area One small area with flat slope Second one same small area but mountanious slope(having steep slope) Both have same intesity and duration of rain but flat slope area will have small peak and high lag distance comapre to second one because Flat sloped area runoff water require more time to reach outlet(less sope velocity less ) Also in second steep sope area The furthest points on a catchment point may have less time (because of steep slope) to reach outlet so accumulation of water in outet is high compare to flat slope
@HIZBULLAHKHAN-zh9ki
@HIZBULLAHKHAN-zh9ki Жыл бұрын
if size of catchment is greater it means it will store greater amount of water thus the water will first fill the catchment and then it will contribute to the discharge so peak will be lower . correct it
