This reminded me of a youth that I met with frequently in juvenile detention. To me as an untrained, but very experienced Chaplain, it felt like he was on the verge of being a full on psychopath. He would not reveal his emotional world but it was bubbling under the surface. By the end, I was certain that his emotional world was fully cut off.

The church is quite high up. Any religion will do. World leaders and CEOs are often the same people who run crime syndicates. Areas of the medical profession.The Arts and Entertainment industry attracts these types. Most of the psychopaths in our midst aren't genocidal maniacs or serial killers and are perfectly kind enough to their nearest and dearest but have no compunction about treating those they don't know as pieces on a chessboard getting in the way of their ambition.

Wonderful video. How about someone who becomes a nurse not to nurse people but “to manage nurses”. Her words at our first nurses meeting after she got the job. In the beginning you mentioned the inability to identify emotions, etc. However, being autistic, I share that trait. Is there a relationship between autism and psychopathy?
@ButterflyonStone7 ай бұрын
I'm just trying to recall what I've seen in the research - but I don't think so - at least not currently. It depends on how you think about human traits and how they cluster. Several conditions/groups can share traits and not necessarily have a strong central relationship - if that makes sense. That being said autism has been considered under a personality framework many times - think Asperger's Autistic Psychopathy for example, of childhood schizoid personality (psychopathy = personality or personality disorder rather than our modern use of psychopath).
@Catlily57 ай бұрын
From what I have read there are two types of empathy. One is cognitive empathy which is understanding things from another person's point of view. Autistic people are usually not good at this. Psychopaths are. The other type of empathy is affective or emotional empathy. Autistic people are usually fine with this. Psychopaths are not. Some autistic people are bad at both but that is a minority. I did not know that psychopaths could have problems with understanding their emotions until this video. I think that most autistic people are not psychopaths but some could be.

personality- i have not looked at google yet but to me a personality is describing someone about who "they are" in the dimesons of their morals, ethics, if they are nice, mean, if they tend to be compassionate or don't give a f*** or if someone is an introvert or extrovert.....what would you say or pin down what is a personality? because all those things can be subjective in a way i guess or is there some type of standard to where you say yes a person is ____________ personality. thanks for your videos. i wanted to go into psycch nursing and was in my first year of nursing school before the pandemic. after covid i totally did a 180 and now studying law.

Police Officers, surgeons, soldiers, paramedics have traces of sub clinical psychopathy not full blown psychopathy because they have to emotionally detach and remain calm given the nature of their work. They also suffer the highest amounts of PTSD so there is a huge difference
@GonzoHenson7 ай бұрын
In some ways, the disproportionate representation of psychopaths in the prison population (as opposed to general population) would also speak to the myth that psychopaths are intelligent. If they were so smart, they'd do better at not getting caught. Of course, being able to construct plausible alibis and covering tracks would benefit from having a good Theory of Mind where once could anticipate how police and suspicious neighbors would think once a crime has been detected, but that might not be in a psychopath's wheelhouse. I wonder if the manipulative abilities have to be done in the present once a psychopath has been able to size up their target and but is difficult to foresee when there is no particular target in mind.

Haha okay I got it wrong “fear” was the answer not “guilt”. That’s an interesting one and I always thought that, however I’ve been hearing from Sam Vaknin over the last few months that it’s his findings through his research that psychopaths actually have more anxiety rather than less. I never believed that or maybe we’re treating fear and anxiety as different? If that’s the case I’d need more education on their distinction ha!
