Batteries become cheaper every year as well. An electric motor is way cheaper than the good old ice motor (check out the Deep Drive dual rotor hub motor design). I rewatched 'Back to the future II' yesterday, where Marty Mcfly and the doc went to the future year 2015 😁, that had "flying super streamlined cars" (noop). The 'future cars' in this movie really look much like the hip EVs of today. Guess our time line is a bit off track with respect to flying cars (whatsup Doc? Einstein had too much dog food?), but we're getting there, Aptera is the very near future for now 😆.

You really have. O idea about the pricing of a production Aptera. Aptera probably doesn’t either at this point. Will know after all testing and adjustments done, production volume established, and final supply chain agreements.

@@johnmalcom9159 The founders knew a long time ago that their design, content, and process will not get them even remotely close to the promised product price viably. The larger investors know this as well, hence the flatline.

How do you know how much the italian producer of the body charges? Aptera spent 160Mill for a motorcycle and still have not a single roadworthy production prototype. Since 2019. F

Building it on the cheap is the reason why they took an existing design (Aptera 1.0) and revisited it in 2019. Come March 2026, that's six years for Aptera 2.0. For a clean sheet design automakers can do it in 5 years. Plus they have a complete production line, distribution, parts, warranty and service. Plus when they do go to production it's not this mysterious "low volume". Aptera has lots of claims but they need to demonstrate that their business model will work. I'm not talking about building the first one, but including everything I listed above. Two strangers have told us what they plan to do now they need to prove that they can and justify the cheapness that they are proud of.

My guess is that production costs of a Tesla robotaxi will likely be less than production costs of an Aptera. If that's the case, then IMO Aptera will need to deliver extraordinary value beyond a robotaxi otherwise Aptera will be 'road kill'.
@thomasthesailorchubby597318 сағат бұрын
Way over priced , that's why they can sell less to make money . A Corolla is a lot cheaper .
@bobhellman8676Күн бұрын
What's cool is that a complete Model 3 body, assembled and painted is significantly less expensive than an Aptera body, assembled and wrapped. Repeating all of Aptera's unproven wonder theorems doesn't prove them. Reminder Aptera has yet to prove any of them.
@freepower1082Күн бұрын
And that’s the key , we’ll know what Aptera will do in 2025 . 😎

It is amazing what you can do with a mere few billion in robots. What, you didn't factor that in ?
@bobhellman867619 сағат бұрын
@@glennzajic7318 That's the point actually. Tesla has intensely evolved all of their designs, processes, equipment, etc.. to deliver a phenomenal vehicle/value in, say, the Model 3 @ $34Kish after rebate. Aptera, on the other hand, has claimed an upcoming green Nirvana but on the "reduce it to practice", they've done virtually nothing in the real world towards viable manufacturing. There will be no $33.2K LE Apteras. Pure Elio II, down to the latest "save us" plea which Elio did nine years ago before their spot blew up.
@arlenbell437618 сағат бұрын
Those of us that are waiting for Aptera have no interest in a Model 3. TOTALLY different vehicles!
@bobhellman867617 сағат бұрын
@@arlenbell4376 Understood. No inference on my part that you should get anything other than whatever you want. My point is/was that Aptera has not put in the work necessary to deliver the vehicle to you at the promised price. They are so ill-equipped that even if they were handed the $60 mil they've been chasing, they still don't have a path to deliver on the promise. They would simply move forward to a new point in time where there would be another reason why this is not going to happen. The true reason is that they don't have a viable plan. Tesla, Yamaha, Honda, Kia, etc., are viable manufacturers. Aptera will not join the club, sorry. They had a shot back at the Beta stage, but that ship has long since sailed now.

Find video. Thanks. The closer this thing gets to production - if it makes its production - the more I worry that Elon Musk is going to use his influence to destroy this company.
@freepower1082Күн бұрын
That could happen , with Elon being the biggest player in the auto industry right now . 😎

Why would he do that? Has he done it before with other startups? Does he have a track record of this? What specifically does Elon need to worry about?
@bobhellman867619 сағат бұрын
@chriseidam7319 No need. Aptera's demise is due to self-inflicted wounds. The founders took money for something they were never remotely capable of pulling off.

@bobhellman8676 Yeah, I came to that conclusion after watching the May investors video. I don't think they're going to make it. They blew it with the Accelerator bait and switch. When I saw that they did that, my heart sank. As a guy that used to work in banking, I don't expect any serious investor to touch it. Rule Number 1: If you publicly burn investors, you probably won't have much luck attracting any more investors.
