They have "risky hype" out there right now. Lots of people with pumped up expectations, and maybe without realizing there's still a lot of unknowns of how this vehicle will be publicly perceived. Will you be able to drive it on a freeway without being figuratively murdered out there, or will it drive like toy car that only does side streets? How will the suspension handle? How will it drive in different weather conditions?
@adimchionyenadum29629 ай бұрын
These big pockets are afraid of investing in things they don't quite get and they don't control. Besides, the market is presently niche and there are headwinds from incumbents. But they will come around if Aptera holds on to the end. They always do.
@billsmith59609 ай бұрын
I makes sense to fans but not people that have money and consultants that want to look into the company in detail. Maybe the details don't look so good. Another reason is because three wheelers never have sold well here in the US. Currently, they are play toys and sell in low volume. Then there are the big claims the company has. Another red flag. The idea of when it gets out on the street, people will flock to it. That might work for a Stanley Cup but for a big ticket item. It does not. Then, Chris and Steve would have to lose some control. They won't let that happen. Makes it more difficult to get that money.

Every video reveals something new and shows that progress is being made. There seems to be a focus on "low volume" production and that high volume production will take more money and time. Low volume builds are obviously the PI builds but will that extend into actual production builds going out to customers? There also seems to be some hesitation as to when the PI builds will arrive in Carlsbad. Unless they are flying the vehicles to CA which Chris indicated as a possibility, shipping is going to take about 4 weeks, so realistically speaking, we are looking at April before we see the PI builds in CA. Hopefully the equipment at CPC Group is not going to sit idle and that they are continuing to build components. The molds are not going to change at this point.

So they know who the battery cell manufacturer will be, but Chris says at the end "that's not made publicly available." I'm hoping it is still EVE Energy, because their NMC 2170's have an energy density of 290 Wh/kg which is pretty impressive. My biggest worry is the cycle life of those cells, but I'm guessing they will at least last 1200 cycles before 20% capacity loss, which should be enough to last the lifetime of the vehicle for most people, but I would love to see people extending the lifespan with new battery packs and new infotainment systems.

Great conversational Q&A tour. Lot's of nice tidbits. I'm a bit disheartened by the seemingly major things that are still in flux (e.g., how the Carlesbad assembly process will need to change based on what CPC will be providing, which itself is apparently not all ironed out yet; also, the nature of the partnership with the battery pack supplier still seems to be fluid). But I guess flexibility and adaptability is a plus. Being able to make changes "on the fly" with minimal trauma avoids premature obsolescence, as CA eluded to.
@daytonclaudio6899 ай бұрын

Chris Anthony has stated in earlier videos that if the wiring and plugs are not provided on the LE for connecting additional solar panels that it will be available as an add-on modification in the future - and the the solar charge controller provided in the LE will be capable of handling the additional output of about 1kw of additional solar panels.

The Aptera wiring harness is an improvement on an idea of mine for Tesla. I suggested one power circuit and use the (higher voltage) power wire to supply signals to turn things on and off and such. There was too much noise in the power line so they ran an extra ethernet wire for signals, but it saved a lot of weigh irrespectively. I would have tried AC and digitizing the power line to avoid noise, but that wasn't feasible either I guess.

There's going to be a flood of used car inventory that will hit the market soon, driving down prices. Look at the bigger picture. Aptera must capture market share. I hope it does. The idea is to sell the Aptera at a manageable loss for the 1st year, allowing more people to get their hands on it, then slowly ramp up prices.

@@billsmith5960 The idea of a kit car would be something I'd actually invest money into since I'll never get to see my reservation car. Aluminum rib and skin body like an airplane. Rivet it together and simple use their CADs and hardware. Make it so the solar could be added later if wanted.

I really don't understand how they would have eight per container given the dimensions of even a high cube container. There is no way given it is a full body Aptera that is being shipped with suspensions and wheels because Steve said it was a rolling vehicle at that point just without power and the debate was to install batteries in Italy or not but to use a RORO would also require the interior and controls to drive it. Given just the length of the Aptera only two can fit end to end and wheels on it is 57 inches tall and 177 inches long! A high cube 40' container is 106 inches tall and 476 inches long inside . To fit three end to end would require a maximum length of 160 inches. So either Chris doesn't know what he is talking about or what they told us is being done in Italy isn't true anymore. If they did not have wheels or motors on them, Steve said motors are installed as its just four hours away, I am not sure you can even stack them ... but assuming two on top of each other at most four fit unless the front crash structure isn't there and even then at most six. I am not believing this The his conversation went on it is clear he does not know what he is talking about. Let alone the idea of air freight some of these???? you have to be kidding. Sorry none of what he says makes sense.

Wow, you know everything. I suspect Chris knows what he's talking about but they could possibly be put vertically. Either way, I don't care as long as they are shipping. They aren't talking about all of them built this way. From what I remember they only stated the first 200 would be built by CPC

@ASawyerInAZ First 200 I believe was in reference to the battery packs being built by their new Korean partnership

@@user-dr2pg8fk2i it was stated a newer video that the first 200 bodies would be from CPC. They would then train people in Carlsbad. I can't swear that hasn't changed but that was the plan within the last 2 weeks

They aren’t rectangular cubes, so I imagine there are stacking efficiencies involved.

The accelerator program was incredibly insulting to everyone who was first in line as investors.

The first in line Wefunder investors purchased Aptera stock at $0.44/share. If they feel incredibly insulted as you claim, please send them my way. I can probably find a way to pay them $0.44/share for their Aptera stock.

I felt the same way, but it was a necessary evil to get this program rolling. I moved into the launch edition thinking I would get it sooner than my 7,000+ number - and will, but not until the first 10,000 are delivered to the richer folks. That’s ok as long as the cars keep rolling out. Perhaps any bugs that are found in those first 2,000 are ironed out by time my Launch Edition comes down the pike.

I'm sure that they would have felt worse if they lost their investment because production never began. Or was delayed by another year. If volume production begins later this year then they will still likely get their EVs quicker than if there was no additional funding through the Accelerator program.

I'm 😞 sad to hear that. I wasn't aware of that. May I know more? Are you also a reservation holder, or are you only an investor?
@andromedach9 ай бұрын
No offense but his constant talking off the top of his head really conveys the fact they don't have a solid plan. He really was winging it far too often for my tastes. Man he got obviously touchy when asked about their claim of ten panels a day - he would not even look at the guy asking and then waved off saying they needed five times the equipment

Factory tour? And where is the factory? This looks like a big garage, not a factory that wants to mass produce "cars" 😂 Anyone that believes this company will ever deliver more than 10 "cars" is so naive and delusional. All they have is a prototype the quality university students can make in a year and some nice CGI... Much wow 😂
@n.brucenelson59209 ай бұрын
You haven't been paying attention, and calling others "naive" when you clearly don't know what is happening or how things work self descriptive. Just check out the patent portfolio and the real parts being produced by tools costing millions.
