Let's say your teacher told you to watch a certain performance but you've watched another before, could you talk about the one you personally watched?

yes as long as you explain where you saw it and include lots of detail then it's perfectly ok! The examiner won't know what play you saw so you are free to choose as long as it is a published play :)
