I'm going to install one of these setups but run the hub off a power bank with charge passthrough. For the siren I'll take your trick of using an Amazon sired, but pair it with a 20Ah 12V battery, and a 5V stepdown for a hacked up smart plug (basically turning the smart plug into a homekit controlled 12V relay). This will stop a burglar simply turning off my power which would kill the siren.

I am about to create a home alarm system with these products and I have a question. I case some one breaks in, by nature your eye would search for the alarm sound the the unit will sound! A reflex would be to rip it down and throw it into a wall or something .. would this silence the alarm and disconnect it?? Also if the wifi goes down in the house would the alarm still be functioning?? Happy for answers
@ShaneCreates2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think it does require power so unplugging it would stop the alarm (I assume... haven't tried that). These products all connect via zigbee, so even if your wifi goes down, the security system should still work.

Shane, I have struggled to use multiple Aqara hubs including M1S in combination with M1 and G2H hubs to extend my range. I heard this is supposed to be possible but I have had no luck getting it to work. When I add a new hub, all devices remain connected to the original Aqara hub, and signal remains poor after long periods or restarting the child device. I see nobody covering this topic on KZbin, so it could be a helpful video to make!
@ShaneCreates Жыл бұрын
Adding additional hubs will not extend the range. You can remove accessories and pair to another hub. The only way to extend the range of your current hub/zigbee network is to use devices that can act as a zigbee repeater, such as the Aqara smart plug or Aqara smart switch (with neutral wire).

I already have a security system that I’ve ported in via HOOBS, and I’ve asked HomeKit to remove this alarm from my status, but it still shows. I don't think so, at least not that I'm aware, as long as you still want the hub and accessories accessible in HomeKit. I do recall hearing about an issue where the Aqara Security System status overrides other HK security system statuses. Any word if it will support Thread technology?
@ShaneCreates3 жыл бұрын
No word yet on that from Aqara. I don't expect them to switch over to thread for all their sensors and child devices. Maybe they will add thread support to their hubs one day in order to comply with Matter standards but I don't think that would make much difference.

Can you connect products from other companies to that hub? I have some different cams, lights and plugs.
@ShaneCreates3 жыл бұрын
No, only Aqara child devices can connect unless you are using the IR blaster feature.

Question: does M2 hub + Motion sensor able to turn on any YeeLight?
@ShaneCreates3 жыл бұрын
If you connect them to HomeKit, or another compatible platform that Yeelight supports, then yes.

Hi Shane. Do you have any idea, how to get alarm notifications on your iPhone at night - when the iPhone is in “do not disturb”-mode. For example, if you are sleeping somewhere else than home. Great videos on your Channel :-) Jimmi Denmark
@ShaneCreates3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jimmi! I actually haven't tested that out.. with DND. Not sure if you can force notifications like that through. If not, I'd rely on the siren, or get an additional siren, or you could turn on your bedroom lights maybe when the alarm is triggered (if you have homekit lights in the bedroom).

Hi Shane, if I wanted install a door sensor for a detached garage that is about 25 ft away. Will I need a hub in both my home and garage?
@ShaneCreates2 жыл бұрын
25 ft isn't too bad. If your hub is close on that side of the house, you might be ok. I'd probably try with just one, then if I had a weak signal would get the second hub. Remember you can also use their cameras as hubs too, so maybe you could use a camera in the garage as a hub?

Anyone know the light fixture he stores by the hub at 4:38?

That's the Eve Flare. I did a review on it a while back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2e2p5Kohcx-oqs It was unavailable last time I checked. Hopefully they bring it back soon. It's a cool product.

Hey there I have installed M2 and led 2 sensors wireless button and smoke alarm. However, both sensors does not appear in my HomeKit, I was only able to see my hub M2 in Apple home app. Do you know why.
@ShaneCreates Жыл бұрын
If your hub is showing up in the Apple home app, all paired sensors should also be showing in the home app. Check the room (in the home app) that the M2 hub is and see if the sensors are there. You can also go to the M2 bridge settings in the home app and see the accessories paired to it.
