The fact it can connect via Zigbee is a Huge gain in my opinion. I have 3 yeelight bulbs and I’m constantly fighting to control it via a Xiaomi button... one week it works well, the other week nothing works!

I needed to reset my Aqara smart bulb. Handbook? Nothing in it. I googled 5+ minutes, tried a lot. Found your video and there you go it works with my hacked usb-stick as a hub. So thanks :)

I think connecting via a gateway is much more power saving then connecting it directly. I think even when you have to buy the Aqara Gateway. After 1 year it'll be cheaper than the Yeelight bulbs because of electricity cost. I think for $12 you can't make anything wrong.

There is an other advantage. If there is a wifi issue, you can still switch your lights. For me that is the biggest advantage to connect via a hub.

How many Aqara bulbs (Zigbee) we can connect to a single Gateway? In "Xiaomi Mi Home Gateway - 1. Gateway explained" You said that only about 30, so it is not so colorful. Now I have 27 Zigbee devices, so It means only 3 more... and what? New Gateway?

yes, 30 is the limitation of devices you can connect to a single gateway. It does mean you can connect 3 more devices to yours, you've got a lot of devices! You can have a second gateway with 30 more devices paired, so yeah.. I have the advantage of being in China, so besides my 'regular' gateway I have those AC gateways installed which was an easy way for me to add more gateways.

Hello! You can connect more devices if some of them are HUB for example, now I have 2 G2H cams, one gateway and one smart wall socket; so I moved some child devices to the closer HUB device.

That bulb looks exactly like the Tradfri bulbs from Ikea - or the other way around. Both work with Zigbee, but Ikea does not have a 800lm bulb.

Have you ever tried connect those light bulbs with zigbee Xiaomi Gateway V3? Or they are working only on older v2?

I have a new aqara hub, the one that is HomeKit enabled, but it doesn’t connect to the mi home app... and the wireless double switch is recognized as a power switch....

I still prefer Yeelight due to its standalone connectivity feature. Plus it has full color spectrum (though to be honest snow white is still the most used one). Weight doesn't matter as light bulbs are a kind of device that you plug and configure once then forget. Well, a lighter one might not be as hurting if it falls to your head somehow.

I had a desk light that tended to kinda tip over with the yeelights so I can assume in certain situations it could actually matter a little bit.

Hello Xiaomify. Fyi, not all regions will list the aqara bulb as an available child device type. My Mi Control Hub device was bought in France. I've managed to associate the hub to many regions (singapour, japan,... ) but not to china. With any of these regions, aqara bulbs just do not show up as an available child device type

for me a very important question to ask is: do they assist the zigbee mesh? i have a house full of sensors, but need 3 hubs, to have them all work. a smart bulb that extends the zigbee mesh and costs 11-15$ would be a dream come true!

Yes, as it's Zigbee, it should extend the mesh. That's one of the reasons I was quite happy to see a Zigbee bulb, as should be great for enforcing your mesh network :)

thank you for the great video. What can you tell from your experianc when it comes to colour rendering? - so the quality in that colours of things in the light are. I didn´t like the results of Yeelight 1st gen. and I am a little sceptical with this one.

After a year or so, my aqara tunable bulb can no longer be reset. I tried turning on and off the switch for 5 times, its no longer blinking.

My gateway bricked during an official Xiaomi update few weeks ago. Luckily my Yeelight bulbs were on WIFI and at least I could turn them on/off with tablet. That day I discovered how many things are on my Xiaomi Gateway, and decided to make a Plan B just in case Xiaomi brick my device again. I really don't suggest to make everything depend on 1 device!

Wow, what happened there? I don't believe Xiaomi would remotely brick devices though... What part of the world are you in? I've got some family in europe that use the hubs I brought them from China, but all just work fine..

@@xiaomify started update in mi home app, after 10-15 seconds I got an error message that it couldn't update it. After it I couldn't bring back to life,xiaomi support didn't help me at all. Living in Hungary used it for 11 months, I guess hub downloaded a corrupted file and without crc check it forced the update and failed, but since xiaomi totally ignored my ticket, we will never find out the truth. Luckily my friend had a spare hub and still working fine with 30 components.

Can I turn them on/off with my regular light switch and will the Aqara Hub (or the App) recognize that it is on/off? So without using the App to turn it on/off. Like 2-way traffic. And when I turn it on with light switch and then turn it off with App and after that will turning it on with light switch again work? That would make it absolutely great. Already an Aqara fan with just a few devices now.

I have few random Chinese Zigbee bulbs and they are compatible with Philips HUE bridge by 5 time turn off/on sequence. Can you try to connect these bulbs to HUE bridge?

Hi Xiaomify, May I ask if 1) Aqara Bulb can be used stand alone with Apple home kit directly? Do I need an Aqara hub to let this bulb connect to Apple home kit? 2) Also If I'm going to buy Aqara gateway for Apple home kit, can I still use my exiting Yeelight gen 2 bulbs with this new Aqara hub?

Yeelights aren't doing Homekit (yet?!) and they connect over Wi-Fi as opposed to the Zigbee connection on the Aqara bulbs. Those are really the two main differences, besides the Aqara being 10RMB cheaper here in China ;)

- wi-fi sucks when it comes to latency - it consumes a lot of power, it's getting hot even when the light is off. - computers should have IP adresses, not bulbs. Zigbee is better. Is it has the flash notify scene like the Yeelight? That is important for me. When my doorbell pressed, I use flash notify on all bulbs.

I think they are only out on Tmall and JD for now. I couldn't find them either but I could pair them through Mi Home APP. So I do expect them to arrive in the Mi store at some point. (The Aqara vibration sensor and gateways were for sale on Tmall a few months prior before appearing in the Mi store as well.)

Hello!! Is it true that Aqara European gateway will accept only sensors and products purchased from Europe? I hear that this is already happened and that means that Xiaomi will lock us on Mainland China server for ever. After Europe the same exactly will happen to US Aqara version in US market. This move is to motivate European entrepreneurs to sell xiaomi products with apathy and not to compete with China's shops. Very sad and really big mistake.
