This one is so vastly superior it’s not even close to the crap us westerners get. I just play it with a translator app. You do have to jump through some hoops though but it’s such a good game.

Agree with Lee here. I tried both the 1st and 2nd releases and it's like they spent their entire budget making it 3d for no reason except to overheat your system (idk why Life was harder to run than Baldurs Gate 3 in terms of system temps) and added weird collectibles stuff. Nowhere near as interesting or fun as the JP version

Man, I'm still amazed and impressed about the Japanese version of Game of Life (assuming its from the same Game of Life board game). What we got was a simple go to Goal and if you stop at certain pieces either get punished or you get to pick a card...

Takara Tomy (back when it was still just Takara) developed the Japanese version back in 1967, very much inspired by the original by Milton Bradley, but distinct in that it starts from the toddler years. And unlike Hasbro, who sells the right for game companies to make "Game of Life" videogames, Takara Tomy have their own videogame development division that's made every single Jinsei Game ever since the original Famicom (NES).

None of the games have been localized officially, however the RPG spinoff for the Famicom was fan translated a few years back. Quite a shame given how much fun these games are in comparison to the digital versions that were published in the West.
