but according to the elderly ,it stings and felt burning sensation too painful ,we had to peel off cause its too painful for him. may i know why?

Personally, if its an open wound that is healing. It will sting regardless when the dressing is being changed. I guess what makes the difference is that the dressing helps to fight microbial which will help with the wound recovery. For me i take painkiller when the nurse is changing the dressing to reduce the pain😅 the other possible factors are does the patient experience cellulitis or other forms of infection that needs to be treated by antibiotics ?
